UFC 210 Results: Kamaru Usman vs. Sean Strickland

A welterweight scrap between Kamaru Usman and Sean Strickland took place during tonight’s UFC 210 prelims in Buffalo, New York.

Round one begins and Usman starts things off with a punch to body of Strickland. Kamaru with a nice combination. Strickland has his hands low here, possibly to negate any takedown attempts. Just as I say that Usman shoots in for a takedown. He cannot secure the takedown but has Sean pressed up against the cage. Usman is landing a ton of knees to the thigh of Strickland here. Kamaru is able to score a trip takedown but Sean immediately rolls for a leg lock. He fails to secure the submission and Usman winds up on top. Kamaru lands a big right hand from the top. Sean ties him up but Usman breaks free and rains down another hard right. Strickland scrambles but cannot get back to his feet. Usman with some left hands from the top. Sean looks for an armbar submission but Usman is able to break free of the hold. Round one comes to an end.

Round two begins and Usman quickly presses forward with a right hand. He faints a takedown attempt and then misses with a follow up right hand. Usman with a left hand that finds a home. Strickland`s eye is all sorts of busted up. Usman continues to press forward and lands a hard combination. He presses Sean against the fence and begins working some knees to the thigh of Strickland. Sean is able to break free and circle out. Usman chases after him and lands another hard combination. This time Strickland drops. Usman is al over him now with strikes from the top. Big shots to the body by Usman. Sean rolls for a leg but it is not there. He gives up his back and Usman continues to rain down strikes from the top. Strickland scrambles and Usman winds up in side control. He switches to the north-south position. Usman begins working some knees to the shoulders of Sean. Strickland is able to scramble and get back up to his feet. Usman stays on him and lands a hard leg kick. Round two comes to an end.

Round three begins and Sean opens up with a left hook. Usman comes forward and lands a left hook to the body. He follows that up with a left hand and then another. He is chasing Sean down now. Another jab to the body followed by a low kick from Usman. He presses Sean against the fence and then scores an easy double leg takedown. Good shots from the top by Usman as he works from the half guard position. He lands a pair of hard hammer fists. We are midway through the final round now. Strickland is basically in survival mode here. He scrambles back up to his feet. Usman immediately lands a low kick. He presses forward and lands a left hook and then a right hand. Strickland throws a left hook but it misses the mark. Usman responds with a low kick. Sean fires right back with a left hand. Usman charges forward. He misses with an uppercut but then connects with a right hand over the top. Sean circles way. He lands a nice left hook to close out the fight. But it is way to little and way to late.
