BREAKING | Kevin Lee Misses Weight at a Crazy Suspenseful Weigh-in
After all of the problematic situations with Khabib Nurmagomedov, as well as Ray Borg having to pull out of UFC 215, fans and media were keeping a close eye on the UFC 216 weigh-ins. One after one, we watched them weigh in, waiting on all the events to be secured. It was a lot like sitting at a graduation, waiting for the name of your family member or friend to be called. The focus was mainly concentrated on two fighters: Ray Borg and Kevin Lee.

Having to postpone Demetrious Johnson’s title fight and record-breaking attempt would be a huge blow for them and UFC 216, but luckily Ray Borg made it to the scales and hit that magic number. Of course, Demetrious Johnson made weight as well, even doing a little lackadaisical pose. That only left Kevin Lee. Who normally wouldn’t require any worry at all, if it weren’t for news coming out that he had 19lbs to lose in just 20 hours. With time ticking earlier this afternoon, Kevin Lee still hadn’t shown up.
“46 mins to go. Kevin Lee not here yet. Sources close to him confident he’ll make weight but it appears as though he’s still working on it. Ferguson has already made 155. We’re live right now.” – Ariel Helwani
As everyone else made weight, we all waited for Kevin Lee. One fight dropped off the card which the UFC released a statement on, which was the fight between Will Brooks Nik Lentz. With just 10 minutes left, we were still waiting on the other half of the main event of UFC 216 to weigh-in. Could it be all a joke to keep Tony Ferguson on the edge of his seat? Or was the cut really that bad?
I mean, if anyone on the roster would talk about 19-pound cut, tiramisu and then come to weigh-in late as gag, Kevin is a candidate? Please?

With literally two minutes left, there was no sign of Kevin Lee. No commotion. Pin drop quiet. Finally, with one minute left, officials walked out holding a towel. With seconds left, Kevin Lee walks out looking extremely drained and makes 156lbs. A shocked Lee walks off stage and is given an hour to lose a pound in order to make the weight so the fight will be on. We will keep you posted and try to get out hearts to return to a normal pace.
