UFC 218 Embedded Episode 2: Aldo Hits the Gym, Holloway Hits the Mall
As we inch ever closer to the penultimate UFC PPV event of 2017, UFC 218, the fighters continue to settle in to their temporary Michigan homes.
Check out episode two of the UFC’s popular Embedded series as they track the lives of this weekend’s fighters during one of the most significant times of their lives, fight week.
They will compete on Saturday night at the Little Caesar’s Arena in Detroit, Michigan.
This episode features the top four fighters on the card. Former UFC featherweight champion, Jose Aldo, takes us to the new and much improved Nova Uniao in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Aldo and famed coach André Pederneiras reflect on how they got Aldo to the position he’s in, as one of the most successful Brazilian fighters and athletes of his generation. Aldo references the comfort zone that he believes led to his fall from title ownership.
Holloway’s segment is much more calm as the champion shops at the ironically named Aldo at the Twelve Oaks Mall in Novi, Michigan. The new champ enjoys the spoils of his 10-fight win streak that culminated in a defeat of Aldo at UFC 212. Holloway also hits the, axe-throwing range (?), to let off some steam with his teammates as he awaits a monumental rematch that will dictate the near future of the featherweight division.
Half of the co-main event, Alistair Overeem, is featured on UFC Unfiltered and discusses the motivations that keep him going nearly 20 years after his professional debut. Overeem looks to earn another title shot, adding to his already illustrious career.
His opponent is the man the UFC hopes will take the division by storm, Francis Ngannou. The Cameroon-born heavyweight runs in to former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva while out to eat, making sure to get a photo with the UFC legend.
