UFC 218 Fight Card and Rumors
The octagon will return to Detroit on December 2 for UFC 218 and the fight card is already beginning to take shape!
The pay-per-view event is headlined by a featherweight title fight between current champion Max Holloway and perennial division contender Frankie Edgar.
Holloway was last seen in action at June’s UFC 212 event where he scored a third-round TKO victory over MMA Legend Jose Aldo, thus becoming the promotions featherweight king. “Blessed” is currently riding an amazing eleven fight win streak.
As for “The Answer”, Frankie Edgar is coming off a second-round TKO victory over surging contender Yair Rodriguez which occurred at May’s UFC 211 event in Dallas. Prior to that, the former lightweight champion had earned a unanimous decision win over Jeremy Stephens at UFC 205.

The UFC 218 co-main event will feature a clash of the heavyweight divisions top contenders as Alistair Overeem will square off with Francis Ngannou.
“The Predator”, Francis Ngannou, has gone a perfect 5-0 since joining the UFC ranks with all five wins coming by way of stoppage. Ngannou’s most recent win came in January when he TKO’s former heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski in the very first-round.
As for Overeem, the former Dream, Strikeforce and K1 champion is coming off a decision victory over former UFC champ Fabricio Werdum which occurred at July’s UFC 213 event. Prior to that, “The Reem” had scored a third-round knockout over Mark Hunt at UFC 209.
UFC officials have confirmed that Ngannou vs. Overeem is official for the UFC 218 event.
Also slated for the December 2 pay-per-view card is a lightweight battle between TUF 26 coaches Eddie Alvarez and Justin Gaethje.
Former UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez was most recently seen in action at May’s UFC 211 event in Dallas where his bout with Dustin Poirier was ruled a no-contest after some illegal knee strikes were landed.
As for Gaethje, the former WSOF champion made his UFC debut this past July against Michael Johnson where he earned a thrilling second-round TKO victory over “The Menace” in a scrap which is thought to be “Fight of the year”.
