What’s next for Cris Cyborg and the other UFC 219 main card winners?
The victory solidified Cyborg’s status as the most feared women’s fighter on the planet and left fight fans wondering who will come next for the Brazilian smashing machine.
BJPENN.com’s Chris Taylor decided to play UFC matchmaker and shared his thoughts on who should come next for the UFC 219 main card winners.
Cris Cyborg: Cris Cyborg should fight Megan Anderson. As much as I would love for Cyborg to have a “super fight” with Amanda Nunes, “The Lioness” just does not seem interested at this time. So, Megan Anderson is the next most logical choice. Cyborg called out Anderson to fight at UFC 221 this February in Perth and “the legit featherweight” appears to be game for a showdown ‘down under’.
Great fight ladies! Congrats Cris on retaining your belt! 👏🏻👏🏻 @ufc I think there's only 1 fight to make now against a legit featherweight. #UFC219

Khabib Nurmagomedov: Khabib Nurmagomedov‘s next fight hinges on if current UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor will be defending his title anytime soon. If “Mystic Mac” decides to come back in the near future then the Irishman should be booked to fight interim lightweight champ Tony Ferguson, this while Khabib Nurmagomedov takes on former title holder Eddie Alvarez. However, if Conor McGregor decides to continue his “vacationing”, then the promotion should attempt to book “The Eagle” vs. “El Cucuy” for what I believe would be the fourth time. Khabib vs. Tony in Russia has a nice ring to it.
Dan Hooker: Dan Hooker should fight David Teymur at UFC 221 this February in Perth as per his post-fight request. Hooker looked solid last night earning a third-round submission victory over dangerous knockout artist Marc Diakiese. If the fight with Teymur fails to come to fruition, surging division contender Mairbek Taisumov has been desperately looking for a dance partner and would make for a solid matchup.
Carla Esparza: Former UFC strawweight champion Carla Esparza shocked a lot of fans last night by scoring a unanimous decision victory over the highly touted Cynthia Calvillo. “The Cookie Monster” put on a terrific performance landing some excellent right hands and timely takedowns to put an end to Calvillo’s impressive win streak. With the win, Carla Esparza should now square off with former title challenger Karolina Kowalkiewicz. “KK” is coming off a win at UFC Poland this past October and is still one of the divisions top contenders.
Neil Magny: Neil Magny spoiled the return of former interim welterweight titleholder Carlos Condit on the main card of last night’s UFC 219 event in Las Vegas. The veteran welterweight, Magny, has now gone 3-2 over his past five fights. Another welterweight sporting the same 3-2 record over his past five fights is Jorge Masvidal. “Gamebred” proceeded to callout Magny following UFC 219 and it is a fight that makes sense given both men’s recent performances.
Lets go ho @NeilMagny April
