The next big event for the UFC is UFC 223 on April 7th when they return to the state of New York for the seventh time.

New York is the newest state to legalize MMA and we’ve gone through some definite growing pains since the first show after legalization in November of 2016. The most notable incidents would be at UFC 208, which also took place in Brooklyn, when Holly Holm took on Germaine de Randamie in the main event for the inaugural women’s featherweight title.

The bout was refereed by Todd Anderson who didn’t deduct any points from de Randamie despite two instances of strikes after the bell. de Randamie would go on to win a unanimous decision that some believe may have been swayed due to the leniency of the fouls.

The second notable incident took place at UFC 210 in Buffalo when Chris Weidman fought Gegard Mousasi. Mousasi earned a TKO victory over Weidman after controversy concerning whether Mousasi was kneeing a downed opponent or not. Weidman was unable to continue and therefore ended up losing the bout.

Now with one of the biggest matchups the UFC can make right now set to headline the next New York card, we have our referees and judges assigned according to Newsday.

The referees will be: Dan Miragliotta, Todd Anderson, Keith Peterson and Rob Hinds.

The judges: Sal D’Amato, David Bruce, Glenn Trowbridge, David Tirelli, Christopher Lee and Derek Cleary.

D’Amato and Cleary were also judges for UFC 208. To see judges histories, you can visit MMADecisions.com
