UFC 228 Results: Zabit Magomedsharipov submits Brandon Davis (VIDEO)

A featherweight scrap between Zabit Magomedsharipov and Brandon Davis took place on tonight’s UFC 228 main card from Dallas, Texas.

Zabit Magomedsharipov was originally slated to face Yair Rodriguez at tonight’s event, but “El Pantera” was unfortunately forced to withdraw from the fight due to injury.

Thankfully Brandon Davis stepped up on short-notice which allowed Zabit Magomedsharipov to remain on tonight’s fight card.

Round one begins and Davis lands a hard low kick to get things started. He lands another and then another. Good start for Davis here. He throws another low kick that lands. Zabit remains calm and looks to counter. Davis with a jab that misses. He comes forward with a low kick. Not much action from Zabit to this point. He finally lands a jab. Davis replies with a low kick and then a right hand over the top. Zabit throws a spinning back fist which is stopped. Davis with a nice right hand and then a low kick. Zabit replies with a low kick of his own. Davis continues to pressure but Zabit catches him with a left hook. Davis singals for Zabit to come forward now. He is doing a very good job considering he is the biggest underdog on tonight’s UFC 228 fight card. Zabit with a low kick and then he shoots in for a takedown. He has Davis pressed against the cage and then drags him to the floor. Davis is back up only to get slammed back down. Davis absorbs the impact and pops right back up to his feet. Zabit with a left hook to the body. Davis responds with a right before the horn sounds to end round one.

Round two begins and Davis throws a low kick. Zabit avoids and then shoots in for a takedown. Davis is doing a good job of defending but he is pressed up against the cage. Zabit with some knees to the thighs of Davis. He shoots in again and this time gets Davis to the floor. Brandon is trying to break free but can’t. He gets back up but is dragged back to the floor just seconds later. Zabit is looking to take the back of Davis now. He lands some hard right hands. Those shots force Davis to scramble. He gets back up to his feet and breaks free. Zabit with a hard kick to the body. Davis fires back with one of his own. He shoots in and scores another big takedown. This time Magomedsharipov immediately moves to take the back. He does and begins working for a rear-naked choke. He switches to a banana-split (knee bar) submission and it is deep. Wow Davis is forced to tapout. Unbelievable stuff from Magomedsharipov.
