VIDEO | Khabib Nurmagomedov on Conor McGregor “He has only one chance… A lucky punch”
Current UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov will attempt to defend his title for the first time when he squares off with former title holder Conor McGregor in the main event of UFC 229 this October in Las Vegas.
“The Eagle” will enter his highly anticipated showdown with “Mystic Mac”, which takes place October 6 at T-Mobile Arena, sporting a perfect professional record of 26-0.
The undefeated Russian, Nurmagomedov, was last seen in action at April’s UFC 223 event in Brooklyn where he defeated Al Iaquinta via unanimous decision to capture the promotions vacant lightweight title.
Since entering the UFC in January of 2012, Khabib Nurmagomedov has gone 10-0 which includes four stoppage victories.
The 29-year-old product of Dagestan is confident that he will make quick work of Conor McGregor, calling the Irish star the “Number one easy fight in the lightweight division”.
In fact, Khabib Nurmagomedov believes Conor McGregor has but just a single chance in their title fight at UFC 229… A lucky punch.

As for Khabib’s UFC 229 opponent, former two division champion Conor McGregor has not stepped foot inside the octagon since defeating Eddie Alvarez via second-round TKO at UFC 205 in November of 2016.
The Irish superstar captured the UFC’s lightweight title that evening at Madison Square Garden, thus becoming the first fighter in UFC history to hold two division belts simultaneously.
“Mystic Mac” was later stripped of both his UFC featherweight and lightweight titles due to inactivity.
