Opening odds released for UFC 232 showdown between Cris Cyborg and Amanda Nunes
Last night, news surfaced that UFC featherweight champion Cris Cyborg will next defend her title opposite bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes at UFC 232 on December 29 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The fight stands out as one of the biggest in the history of women’s mixed martial arts.
Shortly after news of this huge super fight surfaced, online sportsbook Oddsshark.com set the opening betting line for it. As expected, the much larger, long undefeated featherweight champion Cris Cyborg is indeed the favorite — but not by the giant margin she’s used to.
Cyborg has been pegged as a -300 favorite, meaning a successful $300 bet on the featherweight champion will earn you $100. Nunes, meanwhile, is sitting at +230, meaning a successful $100 bet on her will earn you $230.
Interestingly, as reporter Trent Reinsmith points out, these are the closest odds for a Cyborg fight since she battled Gina Carano in 2009.

Cyborg will enter this fight on an insane, 20-fight win-streak, having not lost since her first professional bout. Her last five wins have occurred in the UFC’s Octagon, where she knocked out Leslie Smith and Lina Lansberg, knocked out Tonya Evinger to capture the vacant featherweight title, defeated Holly Holm by decision to defend it, and defeated Yana Kunitskaya by first-round KO to defend it a second time. She’s 20-1 overall.
Amanda Nunes, meanwhile, will step into the cage at UFC 232 on a seven-fight win-streak. She won the title in 2016 with a first-round submission of Miesha Tate. Since then, she’s defended it with a first-round knockout of Ronda Rousey, a split decision defeat of Valentina Shevchenko, and most recently, a fifth-round TKO of Raquel Pennington. She’s 16-4 overall.
