UFC Chile Fight Card and Start Time

Kamaru Usman

The octagon invades Chile for the first time on May 19 for the promotions UFC Fight Night 129 event.

The fight card, which takes place at Movistar Arena in Santiago, is headlined by a key welterweight contest featuring former title challenger Demian Maia taking on surging division contender Kamaru Usman.

Kamaru Usman (12-1 MMA) was initially slated to face Santiago Ponzinibbio in the event headliner, but “Ponz” was forced out of the contest with an injury.

“The Nigerian Nightmare” is currently riding an impressive eleven fight win streak, his latest being a unanimous decision victory over Emil Meek at January’s UFC Fight Night event in St. Louis.

As for Demian Maia, the former middleweight and welterweight title challenger is coming off a lopsided decision loss to Colby Covington this past October.

The loss served as Maia’s second in a row, as he was previously defeated by Tyron Woodley at UFC 214 in Anaheim.

Prior to the pair of decision setbacks, Demian Maia had put together an impressive seven fight win streak which included submission victories over Carlos Condit, Matt Brown and Neil Magny.
