A bantamweight scrap between Marco Beltran and Joe Soto took place on tonight’s UFC Fight Night 98 prelims in Mexico City. Round one begins and Joe Soto scores a quick takedown. He immediately drops back for a heel hook and the submission is in tight. Wow! This one is all over. What a performance from Joe Soto!

A bout between Max Griffin and Eric Montano took place during tonight’s UFC Fight Night 98 prelims in Mexico City. Max Griffin pounced on Eric Montano early and was able to score a quick TKO finish after some nasty ground and pound.

A bantamweight bout between Henry Briones and Douglas Silva de Andrade kicked off the UFC Fight Night 98 prelims on FS1. Both men were happy to trade shots early, as round one began with a furious exchange of punches.

A middleweight scrap between Sam Alvey and Alex Nicholson served as the featured bout of the UFC Fight Pass portion of tonight’s UFC Fight Night 98 event in Mexico City. Round one begins and Nicholson lands a low kick to start. He follows that up with a nice kick to the body of Sam. Alvey leans forward with a jab to the chest. He connects with a counter right hand. Nicholson scores with a push kick. Alvey with another lead jab to the body. Alvey just misses with a right hand. He lands another body shot. Nicholson with a high kick which is blocked. He throws another and this one lands. Alvey eats it and throws a jab. Sam with a nice low kick. Nicholson returns fire with a high kick. Both men land hooks. Sam with a low kick. Alex replies with one of his own, he presses forward but eats a left. Nicholson with a low kick that connects to the groin of Sam. The referee steps in and we have a break. Alvey says he is good to go and we restart. Nicholson misses with a high kick but lands a kick to the body. Alvey comes in with a right. He connects with an uppercut but Alex lands a spinning back fist and then a nice body shot. Alvey cringes. That body shot hurt. He backs up. Nicholson comes forward with a kick to the body. Alvey returns fire with a nice right hand. He shoots for a takedown. It is not there. Alvey lands a short left. Round two comes to an end.

A featherweight bout between Chris Avila (5-4 MMA) and Enrique Barzola (13-3-1 MMA) kicked off tonight’s UFC Fight Night 98 event in Mexico City. Round one begins and Barzola scores with a nice combination to start. He shoots in and scores a quick takedown on Avila. Chris is able to scramble right back to hit feet. Nice leg kicks from Barzola. Avila returns fir with a right. Both men exchange nice shots. Barzola gets a hold of Avila and presses him against the fence. He is able to pick Avila up and slam him to the floor. Avila is doing a nice job of preventing Enrique from entering his guard. Eventually Barzola does break through the defense of Avila but Chris again scrambles and gets back to his feet. Barzola just misses with a big right hand. He scores with a body shot and then a body kick. He shoots in and scores a single leg takedown. Barzola with some shots. Avila gets up to his feet. Barzola has him pressed against the cage. He scores with a right and then they break. A big leg kick lands for Enrique. Round one comes to an end.

Last night’s UFC 204 event in Manchester, England, delivered some memorable fights and a whopping nine finishes. With that said, UFC President Dana White handed out four “Performance of the night” awards at yesterday’s UFC 204 post-fight press conference.

A middleweight title fight between champion Michael Bisping and rival Dan Henderson headlined tonight’s UFC 204 event in Manchester, England. Round one begins and Bisping presses forward and throws a body kick. Henderson returns fire with a leg kick. Bisping with a nice left jab. “Hendo” has his right hand cocked and ready to unload. The fighters trade low kicks. Dan throws a low kick and follows up with a right hand that misses. Bisping attempts a high kick. He goes low and scores. “Hendo” just misses with a right hand. Bisping has a cut and is bleeding. Not sure where that came from. Bisping with a leg kick and Dan just misses with a right. A huge right hand drops Michael. Dan comes in and lands some huge shots and elbows. Bisping is in all sorts of trouble here. He somehow gets back to his feet. Round one comes to an end.

A light heavyweight bout between Ovince Saint Preux and Jimi Manuwa took place on tonight’s UFC 204 main card in Manchester, England. Round one begins and Saint Preux lands a jab to start. Manuwa presses forward and lands back-to-back leg kicks. “OSP” grabs a hold of Jimi and presses him against the cage. The fighters exchange knees from the position. Saint Preux backs off and Manuwa lands a body kick. Jimi slips a punch and presses “OSP” against the cage. The fighters once again trade knees. Manuwa goes upstairs with a knee. They break and Saint Preux chases after Jimi and scores a takedown. “OSP” sinks in one hook and looks to take the back of Manuwa. Jimi remains calm and scrambles back to his feet. He grabs a hold of Saint Preux’s neck and locks in a guillotine choke. “OSP” escapes the submission and quickly transitions taking the back of Manuwa. One minute remains in the opening round. Saint Preux locks in a hook and works some short punches from the top. Elbows to the back from “OSP”. Twenty seconds remain. Manuawa scrambles and gets back to his feet. Round one comes to an end.

A heavyweight bout between Stefan Struve and Daniel Omielanczuk took place on tonight’s UFC 204 main card in Manchester, England. Round one begins and Omielanczuk lands a hard leg kick to start. He charges after Struve with punches and lands a body kick. Stefan circles away and lands a low kick. Daniel returns fire with one of his own. Stefan lands a front kick. Omielanczuk goes to the body with a jab. Struve circles and lands another low kick. Daniel presses forward and lands a huge left. Struve comes back with a hard kick to the body. The fighters exchange leg kicks. Daniel presses forward with a nice combo. Struve scores with a stiff jab. The fighters clinch and briefly go the ground but bounce right back up. Daniel presses Struve against the fence. Stefan scores a trip and winds up in half guard. He moves to full mount and Daniel gives up his back. Struve locks in both hooks. He winds up in mount and delivers a punch. Daniel rolls and gives up his back. Struve is working for a choke now. He locks in a body triangle. Round one comes to an end.

A featherweight scrap between Mirsad Bektić and Russell Doane kicked off the UFC 204 main card tonight in Manchester, England. Round one begins and Doane comes forward with a kick to the body. He lands a nice combination. Bektić fires back with a jab. The fighters exchange shots in the center of the octagon. Doane with a nice hook. Bektić shoots in and scores a takedown. Doane gets up but Mirsad has his back. He drags Doane to the floor but Russell works his way back to his feet. Again Mirsad drags him back to the floor and this time he locks in both hooks. He cranks a rear-naked choke attempt but Russell is able to defend the submission. Bektić locks in a body triangle and sinks in a rear-naked choke and Doane is forced to tapout.

A bantamweight fight between Brad Pickett and Iuri Alcântara headlined tonight’s UFC 204 prelims in Manchester, England. Round one begins and Alcantara misses with a high kick. He throws off a combination and pushes Pickett against the fence. A knee inside just misses. They break. Pickett presses forward but walks in to a flurry of shots. A high kick scores for Alcantara. He lands a punch and a spinning back elbow. Pickett is hits the canvas. Alcantara jumps on him with punches. Alcantara moves to mount. He sets up a triangle and transitions to an armbar. He rolls in to a triangle choke and this one is all over. Picket is forced to tapout.

A welterweight scrap between Leon Edwards and Albert Tumenov took place during tonight’s UFC 204 prelims in Manchester, England. Round one begins and Edwards throws a front kick to the body to start things off. Tumenov is using some nifty head movement to try and get inside. Edwards misses with a combination but shoots in and scores with a takedown. Tumenov gets right back up to his feet, but Edwards is able to score a trip and drag Albert back to the ground. Leon moves to half guard and works a couple of short shots. He quickly pass to half guard but Albert scrambles and gets back to full guard. Edwards transitions back to side control and then quickly moves to full guard. Tumenov scrambles back to half guard. Good transitions here from both fighters. Albert scrambles and gets back up to his feet. Leon quickly shoots in and presses Tumenov back against the cage. He takes the back of Albert and sinks in one hook. The fighters battle for position. The referee sends out a verbal warning for the fighters to work. Leon is able to sink his second hook and flattens Albert out. However, the horn sounds to end round one before he can land any strikes.

A lightweight bout between Lukasz Sajewski and Marc Diakiese kicked off the UFC 204 prelims on FS1. Round one begins and Marc charges forward but gets taken down with ease by Lukasz. Sajewski immediately moves to side control and looks to advance his position. Diakiese scrambles and gets back to half guard. Sajewski works some short shots from the position. Marc gets back to his feet but is in a guillotine choke. He picks up Sajewski and slams him to the ground. Lukasz bounces right back to his feet and presses Marc against the cage. He ducks under and scores a takedown on Diakiese. Sajewski moves to half guard and lands some short strikes to the body. Lukasz with a knee. Diakiese rolls for a heel hook. He uses the submission attempt to get back to his feet. Back-to-back low kicks score for Marc. He lands another and Lukasz shoots in for a takedown. It is not there and round one comes to an end.

Round one begins and Perry immediately presses forward with strikes. He lands a solid leg kick on Danny. Roberts scores with a left hand to the body. Perry is the aggressor early. Roberts fires off with a body kick. Perry replies with one of his own. A nice left hand scores for Danny. Mike presses forward and lands a right hand. Roberts misses with a combination. He steps inside and lands a knee. Perry presses forward but eats a leg kick. Perry with a stiff jab and then a high kick attempt that is blocked. He comes forward with some big punches. He scores a knee inside. Robert dives down for a takedown but it is not there. Perry takes his back and lands some strikes. Roberts scrambles but Perry winds up in side control. He switches to the back and begins searching for a rear-naked choke. Danny scrambles and gets back to his feet. Roberts lands a kick to the body and then one to the leg. Both men land with left hooks. Perry scores with a front kick. Danny replies with a hard kick to the body. The fighters exchange punches. Perry lands a big combination and then a massive uppercut. Roberts goes down. Perry jumps on him with punches but the horn sounds to end round one.

A lightweight bout between Leonardo Santos (16-4-1 MMA) and Adriano Martins (28-8 MMA) kicked off tonight’s UFC 204 pay-per-view event in Manchester, England. Round one begins and Santos lands a kick to the body to start. He follows that up with a front kick which is blocked. Martins circles and lands a low kick. Santos presses forward but misses with an attempt body kick. The fighters trade low kicks. Santos throws a high kick that is blocked. The fighters trade jabs. Martins is applying pressure now. Santos paws with a jab. Martins leaps forward with a left hook that misses. The fighters again trade low kicks. Another leg kick exchange. Martins catches a Santos low kick but cannot score with an attempted trip. Martins throws a big uppercut that partially connects. Santos fires back with a hard body kick. Round one comes to an end.

A key bantamweight bout between John Lineker and John Dodson served as the main event of UFC Fight Night 96 tonight in Portland, Oregon. Round one begins and Lineker takes the center of the octagon and lands a leg kick. Dodson fires back with one of his own. Another big leg kick scores for Lineker. Dodson circles and lands a hard outside leg kick. Lineker misses with a front kick. John Lineker throws a jab to the body and Dodson fires back with a kick to the body. The men trade strikes. Lineker is walking forward here. Dodson lands a high kick but Lineker eats it. A big left hook scores for Lineker. 30 seconds remain. Dodson scores a trip but Lineker pops right back up. A nice front kick lands for Dodson. Lineker leaps in with a flying knee and then a short hook to close out round one.

A lightweight bout between former Bellator champion Will Brooks and Alex Oliveira served as the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 96 tonight in Portland, Oregon. Round one begins and Brooks shoots in for a takedown. Alex stuffs the attempt. Oliveira presses Brooks against the cage and begins working short shots and some knees. Brooks fires back with a knee. Alex drops down for a double leg but Will shakes off the takedown attempt. Brooks is able to switch the position and he scores a nice takedown. Oliveira is quick to get back up to his feet. The fighters exchange knees in the clinch. Alex presses Brooks against the fence. Will switches the position and scores a trip. Alex once again pops right back up to his feet. Will presses Alex against the fence and scores a takedown. Oliveira secures a guillotine choke but Brooks defends the choke until the horn sounds to end round one.
