UFC 196 in Las Vegas delivered some memorable fights and solid finishes. With that said, UFC President Dana White handed out three “Performance of the night” awards at tonight’s post fight press conference.

Nate Diaz shocked the Mixed Martial Arts world earlier this evening in Las Vegas, as he was able to submit the heavily favored Conor Mcgregor in the second-round of their main event fight at UFC 196. UFC president Dana White was asked what was next for Nate Diaz during an interview on FS1, he responded with the following:

Former UFC lightweight title challenger Nate Diaz (19-10 MMA) shocked the MMA world this evening by scoring a submission victory over current UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor (19-3 MMA) in the main event of UFC 196. Round one begins and Conor opens with a right that misses. Diaz with a counter left. Big right from McGregor. Diaz gets a hold of him and presses him against the fence. Conor with a good left over the top. Diaz with a jab. Conor responds with a leg kick. Diaz pumping the jab. Another leg kick and then a left from McGregor. Conor with a big left that misses. Diaz with a shot to the body and then a slap. Nice counter right from Diaz. Good left from Conor, Diaz responds with a right. Conor with a wheel kick that misses. Nate with a left hand. Conor connects with a left of his own. Good jab from Nate. Conor is walking forward. Nate lands two good right hands. Diaz is bleeding by his right eye. Good jabs from Nate. Conor with a big left. Nate with a good counter shot. Diaz with a takedown. Conor is able to turn over and take top position. Nate is searching for a limb. Round one comes to an end.

A light heavyweight bout between Gian Villante (14-7 MMA) and Ilir Latifi (12-4 MMA) took place on tonight’s UFC 196 main card in Las Vegas. Round one begins and Vallante lands a leg kick to start. He follows that with a kick to the body. Latifi shoots in for a takedown but Gian stuffs it. The fighters battle against the fence. They break and Villante lands another good kick. More kicks from Gian. Big left hand scores for Latifi. He gets inside on Gian and lands a good combo. Ilir presses Villante against the fence. He lands a good shot and they break. Gian throws a good kick to end round one.

A light heavyweight bout between Corey Anderson (8-1 MMA) and Tom Lawlor (10-6 MMA) took place on tonight’s UFC 196 main card in Las Vegas. Round one begins and Anderson opens up with leg kick. Big shots land for Lawlor. He lands an uppercut and Cory is hurt. Anderson is on wobbly legs but lands a leg kick. Cory seems to have recovered and lands another good leg kick. Lawlor is pressing forward but is missing with his shots. Good jabs score for Anderson and then a right hand. Lawlor lands a good right hand and then a right hook. Big left hand finds a home for Anderson. Cory scores with another good leg kick. Tom responds with a right hook. Nice counter left scores for Anderson. The fighters exchange shots to close out round one.

A key women’s bantamweight bout between Amanda Nunes (12-4 MMA) and Valentina Shevchenko (12-2 MMA) kicked off the UFC 196 pay-per-view card in Las Vegas. Round one begins and Nunes throws a leg kick that misses. Amanda scores with a front kick to the body. Both women seem tentative to start. A leg kick lands for Nunes and another. Shevchenko lands a left hand. Nunes presses forward with shots. Nunes lands another leg kick. Amanda is throwing a big right hand but it keeps missing. Spinning kick misses for Nunes. Shevchenko is not throwing much, she looks to waiting on something. She finally presses forward with punches but misses. Nunes shoots in and lands a takedown. She lands some big shots from guard. Shevchenko gets up to her feet as round one comes to an end.

A welterweight bout between Brandon Thatch (11-4 MMA) and Siyar Bahadurzada (22-6-1 MMA) served as the main attraction of tonight’s UFC 196 preliminary card in Las Vegas. Round one begins and Thatch opens with a high kick. Some solid leg kicks score for Thatch. Siyar presses forward with punches. Thatch is landing kicks at will but Bahadurzada is eating them and moving forward. Good exchange. The fighters clinch up and exchange knees. Good elbow from Brandon on the break. Both men start swinging for the fences. Thatch ducks under and lands a takedown. Bahadurzada is able to sweep Thatch and ends up on top. Good shots from Bahadurzada. Thatch attempts a triangle submission but it is not there. A few more shots from the top by Siyar as round one comes to an end.
