UFC on FOX 21 gets worst ratings ever for a FOX UFC card
Following UFC 202’s record breaking event, last weekend’s UFC on FOX 21 was the first time a FOX card averaged less than two million viewers, according to a final rating analysis for all 2016 UFC cards on FOX.
Headlined by former interim welterweight champion Carlos Condit and Demian Maia, UFC on FOX 21 pulled in a meager 1.9 million viewers, compared to UFC on FOX 20, which recorded a 2.9 million viewership back in July.
UFC on FOX 18 and 19 both held a respectable 2.5 million viewers in the first half of 2016.
The UFC has now held four events at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, with UFC on FOX 21 ranking fourth among the four cards.
Many fans and analysts figured Paige VanZant’s star-turn on Dancing with the Stars, coupled with her vicious switch kick knock out of Bec Rawlings, would bring in a new batch of viewers who otherwise wouldn’t have tuned in to a UFC card.
However, the numbers never lie, and it appears that PVZ’s star power may be overestimated, for now.
Meanwhile, recent UFC defector Benson Henderson proved he is still a draw after pulling in 725k viewers on Spike in his headlining fight with Patricio ‘Pitbull’ Freire.
