UFN 85 Results: Jake Matthews defeats Johnny Case via submission

A lightweight bout between Jake Matthews (10-1 MMA) and Johnny Case (22-5 MMA) took place on tonight’s UFC Fight Night 85 main card in Brisbane, Australia.

Round one begins and Matthews opens up with two big right hands. Case with a low kick. Matthews with another nice punch. Case with a good combo. Johnny throws a kick but Jake catches it. Good shot to the body from Matthews. Case with a good jab and then a leg kick. Jake shoots in but Johnny tosses him aside. Case is looking comfortable in there. Matthews with a leg kick and then a nice right hand. Both fighters trade good shots. Nice leg kick from Matthews.  Good push kick and then a right hand to close out round one for Case.

Round two begins and Case presses forward. Jake throws a leg kick. Nice jab lands from Matthews. Case is pressing the action and his hands are low. Nice push kick from Johnny. Matthews misses with a head kick. Nice jab and then a body kick that hurts case. Johnny shoots in and scores a takedown but Jake throws up a triangle choke attempt. Good shots from the top from Case after escaping the triangle attempt. Nice ground and pound from Case. Matthews finally gets back to his feet with a minute to go. Matthews hurts Case with a body kick. Johnny shoots in and gets the takedown. Round two comes to an end.

Round three begins and Case charges forward. Good body kick to start from Johnny. Jake is circling trying t find a way inside. He lands a big shot to the body of Case. Jake pushes Johnny against the fence and lands a knee. They break. Jake with a jab and then a kick to the body. Nice left hand from Case. Matthews returns fire with a hard shot to the body. Another good shot to the body from Jake. Johnny appears to be slowing down. Jake with a big left that buckles Case. Johnny shrugs his arms and asks for more. Another nice kick to the body scores for Matthews. Case with a jab. He presses Jake against the cage. He looks for a takedown but Jake takes his back. Matthews is really high, Case may be able to escape. Jake gets the second hook in and being working for a choke.
