Anderson Silva attempts to goad Conor McGregor into a fight!
It appears that former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva is attempting to goad Conor McGregor into accepting a fight.
In the lead up to his highly anticipated octagon return against Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229, Conor McGregor stated that he would be interested in a future fight with former middleweight kingpin Anderson Silva.
“You know what would be another great one? Anderson Silva.” Conor McGregor told ESPN when asked about potential future opponents (prior to UFC 229). “I would be interested in an Anderson Silva bout. I swear to God. Anderson is a legend in the game. What’s the difference between him and Georges? Same damn thing. I’m going to do fights that interest me or have meaning.”
Despite the fact that Conor McGregor suffered a fourth-round submission loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov that historic evening at UFC 229, Anderson Silva still has a strong desire to fight the Irish superstar.
“The Spider”, who is still serving a one-year suspension from USADA, is eligible to return to action as of November 10 and recently told TMZ that he has accepted the “challenge” of Conor McGregor.
“I’m waiting,” former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva recently told TMZ Sports. “Because I accept the challenge for Conor McGregor.”
Silva continued:
“I think UFC President Dana White needs to think about this,” Silva said. “Because it’s two big guys in this sport. Two big names – yes, absolutely, two big legends. And, why not?”
Despite Anderson Silva’s comments, which were made on October 20 TMZ, Conor McGregor has yet to respond to “The Spider”.
Earlier today, the Brazilian mixed martial arts legend once again attempted to gain the attention of “Mystic Mac”, stating the following during an Instagram live broadcast (transcript via MMAFighting).
“I’m waiting for the UFC about my next fight, and I’m training hard,” Silva said in English. “I accepted the challenge (from) Conor McGregor, but never (discussed) about this fight (with the UFC). But I’m ready, guys. I’m here, I’m training every day. I never lose my focus. I’m waiting for my next challenge.”
Silva added that he believes Conor McGregor is “is afraid to lose, supposedly, to an old man, but I’m here.”
