Andy Ruiz on Anthony Joshua win: This is for ‘all my fat boys’
Almost nobody believed Andy Ruiz Jr. could defeat unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua. Yet in a jaw-dropping twist, and one of the biggest upsets in boxing history, the Mexican American boxer defeated the Brit by seventh-round TKO.
Now the unified champion in the revivified heavyweight division, Andy Ruiz has dedicated this historic victory to his fellow underdogs, and all those with a little extra weight around the waist.
Since no other heavyweight wanted to take the fight was I supposed to not believe in myself?? This fight is for all my underdogs who are always counted out all my fat boys who are never given a chance overlooked simply for their weight #snickers #joshuaruiz https://t.co/5iKujIQGnI

“Since no other heavyweight wanted to take the fight was I supposed to not believe in myself??” Ruiz wrote on his official Twitter account, which remains unverified and had less than 6000 followers before his victory over Joshua. “This fight is for all my underdogs who are always counted out, all my fat boys who are never given a chance overlooked simply for their weight #snickers #joshuaruiz.”
Ruiz’s use of the hashtag #snickers actually got a response from the official Twitter account of the chocolate bar and fans are already calling for a sponsorship deal between the two parties.

“Congrats on that SATISFYING fight last night [Andy Ruiz],” a message on the Snickers Twitter account read.
Ruiz has now changed his Twitter banner to a photo of a Snickers bar.
With his jaw-dropping stoppage of Anthony Joshua, Andy Ruiz Jr. is now 33-1 overall. His lone professional loss was a closely contested majority decision opposite New Zealand’s Joseph Parker.
Going forward, it’s not clear who he’ll fight next, although a rematch with Anthony Joshua is certainly possible, and bouts with other apex heavyweights Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder also seem like options.
