Anthony Pettis Shares His Thoughts On Max Holloway vs. Dustin Poirier Rematch

By Chris Taylor - April 6, 2019

Anthony Pettis is very excited to see how next weekend’s UFC 236 interim lightweight title fight between Max Holloway and Dustin Poirier plays out.

“Showtime”, who has competed against both Poirier and Holloway in the past, recently sat down with MMAJunkie where he shared his thoughts on next Saturday’s highly anticipated fight.

“Dustin obviously has the skillset at ’55,” Pettis said. “He’s fought the best of the best at ’55. (Featherweight champ) Holloway is coming up (a weight class) in competition. Me against Holloway at ’45 is not me at my normal weight class. I’m interested to see how he prepares. I think Holloway is just one of them guys who bites down and he goes.”

Anthony Pettis suffered a third-round TKO loss to Max Holloway at UFC 206. That bout was supposed to be for the promotions featherweight title, but Pettis ended up missing weight for the fight.

“Showtime” would later return to lightweight where after defeating Jim Miller he would take on Dustin Poirier.

“The Diamond” would go on to defeat Pettis via third round stoppage that night in November of 2017.

Despite having fought both Poirier and Holloway, Pettis isn’t sure which man will emerge victorious at UFC 236.

“When it gets tough, Max bites on that mouth piece and he throws them hands,” Pettis said. “He’s just a tough dude. I fought both of them and I felt both of their technique, both their technique and I think it’s going to he a great fight.”

Pettis continued:

“It’s hard to call because they both have styles that are just going to clash in the cage,”
