Aspen Ladd and Sijara Eubanks set to run it back at UFC Rochester

UFC 235 took place this past Saturday in Las Vegas, Nevada. As stacked of a card as it was it actually ended up staying completely intact as well… For the most part, anyway.

When it comes to complete fight removals, during fight week the card lost out on a bantamweight clash between Marlon “Chito” Vera and Frankie Saenz after Vera pulled out with an illness. Saenz was a late replacement for Thomas Almeida.

Before that, however, a match-up on the main card was lost when it was announced at the UFC 235 pre-fight press conference in February that the top contender bout between former bantamweight champion Holly Holm and Aspen Ladd (7-0) was off.

Holm’s manager would later come out to say that they were still working out a new deal which ultimately led to the fight falling through. UFC President Dana White stated at the conference that both fighters would go forward facing different opponents. We now know the answer to one of those.

MMAjunkie has confirmed that Ladd will be welcoming The Ultimate Fighter season 26 finalist Sijara Eubanks (4-2) back to the bantamweight division at UFC Rochester on May 18. The bout will be a rematch of their January 2017 encounter at Invicta FC 21.

In their first fight, it would be Aspen Ladd that would end up walking away with the unanimous decision nod over the BJJ black belt. Since then, Ladd has established herself as a force to be reckoned with at 135-pounds with TKO wins over Lina Lansberg and former Invicta bantamweight champion, Tonya Evinger.

For Eubanks, the loss was actually her last as she has won five in a row at flyweight since then (including TUF). Eubanks also happens to be the only opponent of Ladd’s that she hasn’t been able to finish.
