Colby Covington details Dana White confrontation, explains what happened after cameras stopped rolling

Colby Covington confronted UFC President Dana White on Thursday night in Las Vegas and demanded some answers regarding his promised title shot.

The incident took place at The Palms Hotel and Casino while White was attempting to play blackjack (watch that here).

Despite Thursday night’s altercation, the UFC boss assured reporters that he has no issue with Covington.

“Everybody thinks I hate this kid.” stated White at Friday’s UFC 236 press conference. “I don’t hate Covington. Even after last night, I don’t hate the kid. Last night wasn’t as bad as it looked on the video. It looked like whatever, but we were cool and we talked last night face to face. He gets it. He knows he didn’t take the fight so he doesn’t get the fight.

The former UFC interim welterweight champion, Covington, recently sat down with Submission Radio where he revealed what happened with Dana White after the cameras stopped rolling Thursday evening.

“Yea you know, I’ve been saying for months I’m going to get my time and I’m going to get my face to face with Dana White and we’re going to talk. We’re going to talk business. So, that’s exactly what happened. We had a man to man, face to face talk and I like the talk that we had. I think things are going in the right direction. We don’t have to like each other, but we are willing to do business together.”

Colby Covington confirmed that his “man to man” conversation with Dana White did in fact take place at the same blackjack table from the video released Thursday evening.

“It was just at the table man. We had a chat behind the blackjack table, probably for about five minutes you know. I was asking him why I wasn’t fighting. I wanted to understand, like explain to me, why am I not fighting? All the fans want to see me fight. I have the belt. I am number one in the world. Like, why am I not fighting? But you know, he gave me an explanation. You know I think everything will work out. Whether I am in the UFC or out of the UFC, I am still the hottest name in the game.”
