Conor McGregor appears in Irish court, gets driving charges dropped
Conor McGregor is still dealing with a six-month driving ban for repeated speeding infractions, but he was able to dodge another driving-related charge in court in Dublin on Monday.
The Irish MMA superstar was appearing court after being accused of driving without a license or insurance when stopped by the police in July. Because he was unable to produce these documents when he was pulled over, he was charged with driving without documentation. McGregor, of course, was licensed at the time, and was able to produce all the required documents and paperwork to indicate this fact ahead of his hearing. As a result, all charges were dropped (h/t RT.com).
After thanking the bench, McGregor is reported to have left the courtroom and interacted with fans who were waiting outside.
As aforementioned, this is not the Irishman’s only driving related incident of late.
The Irish MMA star recently had his driving privileges suspended for six months after being booked for excessive speeding near his home city of Dublin. He was also fined 1,000 euros ($1136.62) for this incident.
According to a report from the BBC, Conor McGregor “admitted to driving his Range Rover at 154kph (96mph) in a 100kph (62mph) zone near Kill, County Kildare, in October 2017.”
This infraction follows 12 other traffic violations that reportedly date back to McGregor’s teenage years.
Conor McGregor last fought on October 6, when he came up short to UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov in the main event of UFC 229. Shortly after the fight, his and Nurmagomedov’s teams engaged in a wild brawl, both inside and outside the Octagon. The parties involved in this frenzied scene are all awaiting discipline from the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC).
