Cris Cyborg urges Macy Chiasson to move up to featherweight, Chiasson responds
Macy Chiasson has looked like an absolute savage in the UFC bantamweight division, scoring back-to-back stoppage victories over Gina Mazany and Sarah Moras since dropping down from the featherweight division.
That being said, she appeared to endure a pretty rough weigh cut ahead of her recent stoppage win over Moras. She actually missed her mark on her first attempt, and had to use the infamous weigh-in towel to hit the division’s 136-pound limit on her second try.
Former UFC women’s featherweight champion Cris Cyborg saw Macy Chiasson struggle with her weight cut, and is urging her to move back up to the featherweight division for the sake of her health. Cyborg added that Chiasson’s return to the division would also provide some sorely needed blood to a division that is still desperate for contenders.

“Extreme weigh cuts are the biggest danger in the sport of MMA,” Cris Cyborg wrote on Twitter. “This fighter is a Featherweight. Save your health and help create a sport with equal opportunities for women at the same time.”
Macy Chiasson, unsurprisingly, caught wind of these comments from Cris Cyborg, and was happy to respond after her victory over Moras. She says she’s not worried about what Cyborg has to say — she’s content to keep clobbering in the bantamweight division.
“I don’t really care what (Cyborg) says,” Chiasson said (transcript via Cageside Press) We’re doing what we do at 135.”
Which division do you think Macy Chiasson should be fighting in? Are you with Cyborg on this one?
