Dana White reacts after being confronted by Colby Covington in Las Vegas
Former UFC interim welterweight champion Colby Covington was on the hunt for promotional president Dana White last night in Las Vegas.
“Chaos” eventually found the UFC boss playing blackjack at The Palms Resort and Casino.
Covington immediately started to demand answers from White regarding his promised UFC title shot (watch that here).
Dana, who looked less than impressed with Colby’s antics, told Covington to turn off his camera and stop filming.
Despite last night’s encounter, Dana White swears he holds no ill will towards Covington.
“Everybody thinks I hate this kid.” stated White at today’s UFC 236 press conference. “I don’t hate Covington. Even after last night, I don’t hate the kid. Last night wasn’t as bad as it looked on the video. It looked like whatever, but we were cool and we talked last night face to face. He gets it. He knows he didn’t take the fight so he doesn’t get the fight.”
As was the case with Tony Ferguson, Dana White says when an opportunity arises these fighters have to jump on it.
“Cobly Covington is another perfect example,” said Dana White. “He was offered the fight. He can come up with a million excuses why, but he didn’t take the fight.”
Colby Covington was last seen in action at June’s UFC 225 event in Chiacgo, where he defeated Rafael dos Anjos to become the promotions interim welterweight champion.
“Chaos” was later stripped of his title after nasal surgery forced him from being able to compete.
