Dana White says the time for Jon Jones vs. Daniel Cormier rematch is ‘now’

Jon Jones is once again the UFC light heavyweight champion, and as always, one of the most compelling matchups available for him is a rematch with his arch rival Daniel Cormier, who currently holds the UFC heavyweight title.

While Jon Jones is currently booked for a UFC 235 title defense opposite the fearsome Anthony Smith, and Daniel Cormier is still unsure whether he’ll retire in March as originally planned, UFC President Dana White seems to be very interested in a rematch between the two stars — and soon.

Speaking on the ESPN’s Now or Never — wherein guests are asked whether something is more likely to happen now or never — White gave a decisive ‘now’ to a potential Jones-Cormier trilogy fight.

“Now,” he said bluntly. “Yeah. I think that right now, Cormier probably has three fights left in his career, you know what I mean? And one of those guys is definitely going to be Jon Jones.”

Interestingly, Dana White also answered ‘now’ to another high-stakes champion-versus-champion rematch: Flyweight champ Henry Cejudo vs. bantamweight Tj Dillashaw. Cejudo recently defended his title with a first-round TKO of Dillashaw, and now, White seems interested in a rematch at bantamweight.

“Now,” he said. “I think we do that fight again at 135 pounds now for the 135-pound title.”

Do you think we’ll see rematches between Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier, and TJ Dillashaw and Henry Cejudo in the near future?
