Henry Cejudo teases fight with Vasyl Lomachenko

By Tom Taylor - June 23, 2019

Like many fight fans, UFC flyweight and bantamweight champion Henry Cejudo tuned in for BKFC 6 on Saturday night. And like many onlookers, he was very impressed to see UFC veteran Artem Lobov pick up an upset, decision victory over multiple-time boxing champion Paulie Malignaggi in the card’s main event.

In fact, Cejudo was so impressed with Lobov’s performance against the boxer that it got him thinking about a boxing showdown of his own.

Speaking on Twitter, the UFC’s newest two-division champion hinted at a matchup with boxing lightweight world champion and pound-for-pound frontrunner Vasyl Lomachenko.

“Artem Lobov (13-15,MMA) former UFC fighter wins by unanimous victory over Paulie Malagnaggi (36-8, ,Boxing) former World Champion . What do you think an Olympic & #UFC champ Champ would do to #boxing ‘s @VasylLomachenko?” – Henry Cejudo on Twitter.

It didn’t take long for Lomachenko to respond to this idea from Cejudo. Instead of typing out an answer, he relied on a gif of himself. See it below.

Vasyl Lomachenko last fought in April, when he knocked out the outmatched Anthony Crolla in round four. He’s also recently picked up wins over José Pedraza, Jorge Linares and Guillermo Rigondeaux.

Henry Cejudo, on the other hand, last fought in the main event of UFC 238, when he defeated Marlon Moraes to capture the UFC bantamweight title. This new title joined the flyweight belt and an Olympic gold medal in wrestling on Cejudo’s crowded trophy case.

How do you think Cejudo would fair in a boxing match — or a bare knuckle boxing match — with Lomachenko? Would he have any chance whatsoever? Join the conversation in the comments section.
