Joe Rogan opens up on the amount of fighting he watches day-to-day
As a long-time color commentator for the UFC, Joe Rogan watches a lot of fights. Even when he’s not on duty for UFC cards, he often watches the events for his Fight Companion podcasts. And then, of course, there’s his passion for Brazilian jiu jitsu, boxing, Muay Thai and kickboxing, which also takes up a lot of his attention…
Really, it’s hard to comprehend how Joe Rogan has time to do anything but watch fights.
Speaking on a recent episode of the JRE MMA show, after Rogan had demonstrated some seriously deep knowledge of boxing and kickboxing by discussing fighters like Vince Phillips, Masato and Frans Botha, his guest Miriam Nakamoto asked him how much time actually spends watching fights on a day-to-day basis.
Apparently, he watches enough fighting that he has a hard time remembering other things — like recent conversations he’s had with his wife.

“How much time a day do you dedicate to watching fights?” Nakamoto asked Rogan.
“If you talk to my wife and ask her what she told me about 10 minutes ago, I will not remember what the f**k she said,” Rogan responded, explaining how much space fighting takes up in his brain. “There’s a lot of s**t I don’t remember. But I have like storage units [for fights] in my brain.”
In a matter of seconds, however, Joe Rogan had veered off track, and was suddenly asking his producer Jamie to pull up yet another clip.
“Pull up Giorgio Petrosyan vs. Andy Souwer,” he said, going off on another tangent about another fight he’d seen years ago…
Case in point.
Joe Rogan has been working for the UFC since 1997. Initially, he served as a backstage interviewer for the promotion, but quickly moved into a color commentary role. He has worked for the promotion ever since, and has become as much a part of big UFC cards as the Octagon itself.
