Jon Jones channels Nick Diaz in responding to Daniel Cormier trilogy
UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones channeled his inner Nick Diaz when responding to a potential trilogy bout with rival Daniel Cormier.
‘DC’ was a recent guest on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show where he said that the only fight for he would be interested in after his rematch with Stipe Miocic at UFC 241 is a trilogy bout with Jon Jones.
“If I don’t, trust me, I can be fine. But I’m just fiercely competitive. So when I say if there is another fight after (Miocic), it would have to be that one (Jones).”
‘Bones’ caught wind of Cormier’s remarks and took to social media with the following response.
“Oh and don’t forget your Wolf Tickets!” Jon Jones wrote on Instagram.
Before a trilogy fight between Jones and Cormier can come to fruition, the bitter rivals will first have to defend their respective titles.
Jon Jones will return to the octagon in the headliner of July’s UFC 239 pay-per-view event where he will square off with dangerous knockout artist Thiago Santos.
‘Bones’ recaptured the UFC’s light heavyweight title at UFC 232, defeating Alexander Gustafsson by way of third round knockout. He would go on to defend his crown at UFC 235, scoring a unanimous decision victory over Anthony Smith.
Meanwhile, UFC heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier is set to rematch Stipe Miocic at August’s UFC 241 pay-per-view event in Anaheim, California. ‘DC’ has not competed since submitting Derrick Lewis at November’s UFC 230 event in New York.
