Jorge Masvidal calls for summer scrap with Conor McGregor

Fresh off a stellar knockout victory over British welterweight contender Darren Till, Jorge Masvidal is now targeting a showdown with former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion Conor McGregor.

Jorge Masvidal, Conor McGregor

Jorge Masvidal made this callout on Twitter, offering McGregor one of his patented three-piece combos. He even offered to serve this dish in McGregor’s native Ireland.

“Summer time 3pc combo lets do it in Ireland” – Jorge Masvidal on Twitter

This comment from Masvidal quickly got a response from UFC bantamweight and featherweight titleholder Amanda Nunes, who expressed interest in joining her American Top Team stablemate on this proposed summer card in Ireland.

“Let’s go and I want to be on this card” – Amanda Nunes on Twitter

Conor McGregor recently divulged that he’s targeting a return to the Octagon in July, in the midst of the UFC’s annual International Fight Week. That being said, negotiations are still very much underway, and it’s more than likely that his return will go down in Las Vegas, not Ireland.

While Jorge Masvidal would make a great opponent for McGregor, he’ll likely have to get in line. As ever, the Irish MMA star would seem to have dozens of interesting options on the menu, including UFC lightweight champ Khabib Nurmagomedov, Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone, Nate Diaz, and as of this morning, former UFC welterweight champ Tyron Woodley, who also called him out.

Masvidal, of course, has no less exciting options on his plate, as potential fights with Leon Edwards, Ben Askren, and even welterweight champ Kamaru Usman seem like real possibilities for him.
