Jorge Masvidal responds to Nick Diaz shutting down UFC 235 fight
Over the last few weeks, fight fans have been very excited about a potential fight between Nick Diaz and Jorge Masvidal, which was expected to occur at UFC 235 on March 2. Unfortunately, it doesn’t sound like it’s happening after all.
On Sunday night, Nick Diaz threw a wrench into this planned Jorge Masvidal fight.
“I think it’s rude of the UFC to try and lowball me and expect me to negotiate a deal while I’m training for a fight,” Diaz said via text message to ESPN. “It’s not gonna go down like that. If anybody wants to fight me they know where to find me. I’m not a hard guy to find. Come get some.”
“I have a lot going on trying to manage a few different businesses. Once things make sense for everybody in that they actually have some fighters that they respect and I respect, we can try and come to a deal and do a show. That’s how I feel.”
Since this disappointing comment from Nick Diaz, we’ve all been waiting to see how Jorge Masvidal will respond.
Well, the wait is over.
On Monday afternoon, “Gamebred” took to Twitter to give his take on the situation. Apparently, he’s not too worried. He just wants to fight. And as always, Neil Magny is at the top of his list of potential replacement opponents.
Everybody waiting on me to respond. I’m just waiting on a fight I need to get paid @NeilMagny where you at? #easymoney

“Everybody waiting on me to respond. I’m just waiting on a fight I need to get paid @NeilMagny where you at? #easymoney” – Jorge Masvidal on Twitter.
Nick Diaz has not fought since UFC 183 in January of 2015, when he suffered a decision loss to Anderson Silva. That result was ultimately overturned to a no-contest after Silva tested positive for Drostanolone and Diaz was flagged for marijuana metabolites.
Jorge Masvidal, meanwhile, last fought in November of 2017, when he gave up a decision to Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson. He’s spent much of the time since then competing on a Spanish language reality television show.
Are you disappointed we won’t get to see Nick Diaz and Jorge Masvidal fight at UFC 235?
