“The Motown Phenom” suffered his second loss in his last three fights this past December when he was defeated by Al Iaquinta by unanimous decision at UFC on FOX 31. As a result, Lee is planning on making changes to his training camp and that includes his coaching staff.

“There’s definitely going to be some coaching changes,” Lee told MMA Junkie Radio. “Even in the last one, I had a guy in my corner for the first time. Whenever you do that you’re taking a big risk, you’re taking a gamble. There’s so much energy-based and I feed off the people’s energy, too. I do think that there will be some changes. There’s going to be some big changes coming up that I can’t really talk about yet. … I’ve got some big plans in my head that I’m putting out there, and I’m going to make sure I get them into fruition.”

Lee (17-4) has been training at Xtreme Couture in Las Vegas since early in his UFC career. In late 2017 his head coach Robert Follis passed away. Since that tragedy, Lee hasn’t had a structured coaching staff in his training camp and that’s something he’s looking to change.

“I’m kind of done playing around. I’m kind of done seeing what I need to do, and now somebody is going to get hurt. In my head, that’s all that’s happening now. I don’t care who it is. They’ve approached me with some fights now that I just wasn’t interested in.”

Lee (17-4) went on a 8-2 run to start off his UFC career however has dropped to 1-2 in his last three fights. The 26-year-old has never lost back-to-back fights in his career and currently doesn’t have a fight scheduled. Stay tuned to BJPenn.com for any updates on the next fight of Kevin Lee.
