Earlier this week, the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) handed hefty punishments to Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor for their roles in the frenzied brawl that followed their UFC 229 fight.

Nurmagomedov was handed a $500,000 fine and a nine-month ban, which can be reduced to six months if he completes an anti-bullying PSA. McGregor, meanwhile, received a lighter six-month suspension and $50,000 fine.

Shortly after these punishments were handed down, Conor McGregor issued the following statement on social media.

“I am thankful for the Nevada athletic commissions fair assessment and handling of the brawl incident. It was not my intention to land the final blow of the night on my opponent’s blood relative. It’s just how it played out. I look forward to competing again soon. Thank you all.” – Conor McGregor on Twitter.

McGregor then followed up with another Tweet, breaking down the mechanics of his “final blow of the night.”

“Straight left hand inside the attackers jab.He attempted to use the big security guard that’s in all the movies as cover, but I could smell him a mile away and landed flush down the pipe. The final blow of the night UFC 229 in association with McGregor Sports and Entertainment.” – Conor McGregor on Twitter.

On Friday afternoon, a response was issued from the Twitter account of Khabib Nurmagomedov. This Tweet also included some comments about the NSAC and their proposed anti-bullying PSA.

“Performance of the night #ufc229. @danawhite where his bonus ? The final blow of the night. #mcTapperTeam #bullythebully #PSA #bullshitVegas” – Khabib Nurmagomedov on Twitter.
