Khabib Nurmagomedov NSAC hearing delayed until New Year

Shortly after Khabib Nurmagomedov submitted Conor McGregor in the main event of UFC 229, he leapt over the cage and attacked McGregor’s training partner Dillon Danis. In the ensuing fracas, McGregor swapped punches with a pair of Nurmagomedov’s training partners inside the cage.

Ever since this chaotic scene occurred, we’ve been waiting with bated breath to see how the sanctioning Nevada State Athletic Commission will punish Nurmagomedov and McGregor.

Unfortunately, we won’t be getting our answers any time soon.

Khabib Nurmagomedov was expected to appear in front of the NSAC today, but he was granted a continuance, meaning he won’t receive his punishment until the new year. This news was first reported by MMA Fighting, who spoke to NSAC Director Bob Bennett.

According to Bennett, Nurmagomedov’s team requested a continuance if no agreement was reached before Monday’s scheduled hearing.

McGregor also recently received a continuance.

The next NSAC meeting is scheduled for January 29. According to Bennett, it’s likely that both Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor’s hearings will occur on that date.

While nothing is certain at this point, and settlement agreements are still possible for both fighters, it’s likely that both receive significant fines and suspensions, which would seem to rule out the possibility of either man fighting any time soon.

When Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor are eligible to return, UFC President Dana White says they could battle Tony Ferguson and Dustin Poirier respectively.
