Khabib Nurmagomedov reacts to NAC fine and suspension

On Tuesday, the Nevada Athletic Commission met to determine the fates of Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov.

The pair were being punished for the brawl that occurred after their UFC 229 fight, which also involved McGregor’s teammate Dillon Danis, and Nurmagomedov’s teammates Zubaira Tukhugov and Abubakar Nurmagomedov.

Khabib Nurmagomedov was the first fighter to learn his fate at this Tuesday hearing. After some consideration, it was decided that he will receive a $500,000 fine and a nine-month suspension. That said, his suspension will be reduced to a six-month term provided he partakes in an anti-bullying public service announcement, which would first have to be approved by the NAC.

Provided he completes the aforementioned anti-bullying PSA, Khabib Nurmagomedov will able to fight again in April (his suspension is retroactive to the date of his offense).

Conor McGregor received his sentencing shortly thereafter, receiving a much lighter $50K fine and a six-month suspension.

In a rather unsurprising twist, Khabib Nurmagomedov doesn’t seem pleased with his punishment — particularly when it’s compared to McGregor’s.

“politics forever,” he wrote on Twitter, implying that internal politics played a role in his punishment.

What do you think of the punishment Khabib Nurmagomedov received at Tuesday’s NAC hearing?
