Marlon Moraes unsure TJ Dillashaw ‘deserves’ fight with him after loss to Henry Cejudo

Last night, in the main event of the stacked UFC Fortaleza card on ESPN+, former World Series of Fighting bantamweight king Marlon Moraes avenges his only UFC loss, defeating the always tough Raphael Assuncao by first-round submission.

With this dominant victory, Marlon Moraes is now inarguably the top contender for TJ DIllashaw’s UFC bantamweight title. Yet having recently watched Dillashaw come up short in a flyweight title fight with Henry Cejudo — a fight he lost by first-round TKO — Moraes says he isn’t sure this fight is an opportunity Dillashaw deserves.

“T.J. Dillashaw, I don’t know if you deserve the fight with me after your last performance,” he said at the UFC Fortaleza post-fight press conference (via MMA Fighting). “I may have to let you go down in weight and fight with the little boys.”

With his UFC Fortaleza victory over Raphael Assuncao, Marlon Moraes is now on a four fight streak. His only loss in the UFC’s Octagon came against Assuncao in his UFC debut — a fight he lost via controversial split decision. The former WSOF champion is now an impressive 22–5–1 overall, with impressive, stoppage victories over other top bantamweights like Aljamain Sterling, Jimmie Rivera and now Assuncao on his recent record.
