Michael Bisping considers Brendan Schaub a ‘good guy’ — but also believes he could ‘f*** him up in a heartbeat’

Former UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping doesn’t want to fight former UFC heavyweight Brendan Schaub. Speaking on his podcast Believe You Me recently, however, Bisping admitted that he believes he’d beat Brendan Schaub if they ever fought.

Speaking to his co-host Luis J. Gomez, Michael Bisping says that comedian Theo Von had recently asked him if he thought he could beat Schaub in a fight.

“Theo Von was trying to start s*** between me and Brendan Schaub,” the former champion explained (via MyMMANews.com). “He was like asking me ‘c’mon man if you had to fight, who would win, you or Brendan Schaub?’”

From there, Gomez pressed Bisping for an answer to this question that was apparently originally posed by Von.

“You were two weight classes below Brendan Schaub, is there something to that?” Gomez asked Bisping. “I mean Brendan Schaub was a f***ing heavyweight fighter and you think you can take him?”

“Listen I’m not going to sit here and say that,” Bisping responded. “But yeah, I do. Of course I do.”

“It’s so juvenile and barbaric,” the former champion added. “It is. I don’t sit here and proclaim things like that. It’s barbaric, it’s juvenile, it’s nonsensical. But yeah, I’d f*** him up in a heartbeat.”

While Bisping seems confident that he could defeat Schaub in a fight, he was quick to assure that he considers Schaub a “good guy.” Meaning there’s no real animosity in these comments.

Michael Bisping retired earlier this year, after a pair of stoppage defeats to Kelvin Gastelum Georges St-Pierre. These losses were preceded by five straight wins, including a decision defeat of Anderson Silva, a knockout defeat of Luke Rockhold, and a decision defeat of Dan Henderson. He hung up the gloves with a 30-9 overall record.

Brendan Schaub, meanwhile, called it a career in 2014 after a decision loss to Andrei Arlovski and a knockout loss to Travis Browne. Prior to those losses, Schaub picked up wins over names like Matt Mitrione, Lavar Johnson, Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic, and Gabriel Gonzaga. He was 11-5 overall.
