Miesha Tate explains why she’d rather have Ronda Rousey’s career than Amanda Nunes’
According to former UFC bantamweight champion, Miesha Tate, the career of Ronda Rousey is more desirable than that of Amanda Nunes.
When Amanda Nunes beat Cris Cyborg at UFC 232, to become the featherweight and first female champ-champ, the consensus was that she was the greatest female fighter of all-time. And, she even admitted that herself.
Yet, even though she is considered the GOAT, she is not the most well known female fighter. That title goes to Ronda Rousey who was the first female UFC champion and became a Hollywood celebrity outside of the cage. And, according to Miesha Tate, Rousey’s long-term rival, she would rather have the career of Ronda Rousey when compared to that of Amanda Nunes.
“Let’s take the names out of it,” Tate said on Sirius XM. “Would you rather win every bout – let’s assume we’re talking greatest of all time – while she (Ronda Rousey) was winning and she gets 100 percent return on it, or would you rather put 110 percent effort into it and get 50 percent return on it?
“So I’m looking at this, and I’m gonna say, you know what? I’d rather have Ronda’s career. If you ask me who I’d rather be, I would say Amanda. But if you’re talking about I’m gonna put 110 percent into this and what do you want to get out of it? Do you want to get 100 percent out of it? Or do you want to get 50 percent out of it? I”m gonna say I want 100 percent.”
Ronda Rousey finished her career with a 12-2 record. Her losses came at the hands of Holly Holm and Amanda Nunes, which were her final two fights. While the Brazilian currently has a record of 17-4 and is set to defend her bantamweight title at UFC 239 against Holm. Although Nunes is having a ton of success inside the Octagon, the fame and money sway’s Miesha Tate to pick Rousey’s career over the champ-champ.
