Nick Diaz teases move to Bellator
Business is seemingly never easy with the Diaz brothers. With both of them having not fought inside the UFC for years now, it may be time that one of them moves on from the promotion as they’re both ready to return to action.
For the elder Diaz, Nick, it will have been four years since he last competed in MMA come February. Now finding interest in fighting again, he is apparently back.
But despite UFC President Dana White confirming last night at UFC 231 that Diaz and Jorge Masvidal will fight at UFC 235 in March, Diaz appears to have other plans after hinting on Instagram that negotiations didn’t fit his expectations.

“F*ck ufc it’s all about Bellator now at least they pay me ScCoker is a g” read Diaz’ caption.
‘ScCoker’ obviously being in reference to the Bellator President Scott Coker. Nick Diaz and Coker have a good relationship from their days in Strikeforce when Diaz was the longtime welterweight champion having defended his title on three separate occasions before departing.
Diaz’ Strikeforce run is exactly what propelled him into elite welterweight status at the time and led to his return to the UFC in October 2011. Knowing how well Diaz was treated with Coker as the frontman of the promotion doesn’t make it surprising that Diaz would be open to working with him again…assuming that ends up being the case.
Since Diaz’ last fight in Strikeforce in April 2011, he has gone 1-2 (1 NC). His lone win came in his UFC return fight against BJ Penn at UFC 137 which would set him up for an interim title opportunity opposite Carlos Condit.
A unanimous decision loss to Condit led to a brief hiatus for Stockton’s finest before returning to challenge Georges St-Pierre for the undisputed crown in a losing effort. To this day it remains a bout that Diaz believes some dirty tactics were utilized.
