NSAC claims they would have held Conor McGregor’s UFC 229 fight purse if they had their current video footage
The first of two hearings for Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov’s UFC 229 post-fight actions took place today and we didn’t learn a whole lot.
What we did learn was that the two will be required to show up their second hearing which takes place on December 10 where they will presumably receive their punishments.
But today it was also stated by the chairman of the Nevada State Athletic Commission, Anthony Marnell that he “recommends” that Nurmagomedov is granted half of his 2 million dollar fight purse while the other half be transferred from UFC to NSAC for “safekeeping” until everything is resolved.
In relation to this, an interesting tidbit was also brought up by Marnell in regards to McGregor who did receive his entire fight purse of $3 million.

“I would put in there, for the record, if I would have had the video we now have, I would have also held Mr. McGregor’s purse.”
Presumably, Marnell is referring to the various different angles of the post-fight skirmishes that revealed McGregor punching Nurmagomedov’s brother Abubakar who was in his corner for the fight. But it also makes one wonder if he has now seen something that we haven’t.
Either way, the big question remains as to what kind of punishments will be handed out for the two top UFC lightweights. And with the next hearing being pushed back even further, it will just keep them out for potentially even longer than they already are set to be.
In the meantime, we may just have to continue to sit back and watch Nurmagomedov and Floyd Mayweather go back and forth teasing a boxing match while McGregor carries on with his whiskey tour.
