Odds: Daniel Cormier favored over Stipe Miocic in proposed rematch

By Tom Taylor - May 1, 2019

On Tuesday night, ESPN reported that UFC heavyweight champ Daniel Cormier’s long-discussed showdown with WWE star Brock Lesnar is likely off the table for good. With this matchup nixed, Cormier is now expected to defend his title against the man he won it from in July 2018: Stipe Miocic.

The fight is reportedly nearing finalization for UFC 241 on August 17 in Anaheim, California.

The early odds for this rematch, which has long been seen as the backup plan if Brock Lesnar couldn’t be coaxed back to the Octagon, have already been released

Given that Daniel Cormier scored a first-round knockout victory over Stipe Miocic less than a year ago, it should come as no surprise that he’s favored to win again. That being said, the oddsmakers don’t seem to have a ton of confidence in him, as he’s only been labeled as a slight betting favorite.

The online sportsbook BetOnline has identified Cormier as a -150 favorite, which means a successful $150 bet on him would win you $100. Miocic, meanwhile, has been labeled as a +130 underdog, meaning a successful $100 bet on him would win you $130.
