Throughout Conor McGregor’s run in the UFC many have criticized ‘Notorious’ for what they believe is an inability to wrestle. At UFC 189 when McGregor fought Chad Mendes for the interim UFC featherweight championship he managed to stuff some takedowns from Mendes, however was ultimately taken down and controlled on the ground for some time.

Recently it was announced that our namesake BJ Penn would be coming out of retirement to chase the featherweight championship. With Greg Jackson in his corner, Penn hopes to capture the featherweight championship and become the first man in UFC history to hold a championship belt in 3 weight classes. While a fight with Nik Lentz seemed to be out of the question, Penn is coming back regardless of whether or not he gets to fight Lentz.

Conor McGregor on the other hand has been booked to move up to lightweight at UFC 197 and challenge Rafael dos Anjos for the UFC lightweight championship. While McGregor claims that RDA is a traitor to Brazil, Jose Aldo says there is no way he would fight his fellow countryman, and there’s no way McGregor leaves UFC 197 with the lightweight strap.
