The Octagon remains in Nevada for tonight’s UFC Vegas 60 event, a thirteen-bout fight card headlined by Cory Sandhagen vs. Song Yadong. Sandhagen (14-4 MMA), 30, is hoping for a win to put his previous 2 losses behind him. ‘Sandman’ was defeated by Petr Yan (16-3 MMA) by unanimous decision last October at UFC 267. In July of 2021 he lost to T.J. Dillashaw (17-4 MMA).

Julian Erosa is happy with his win over Hakeem Dawodu at UFC 279. Erosa was coming off a win over Steven Peterson who missed weight which led to a massive payday for him. At UFC 279, he was in a familiar spot as his opponent in Dawodu missed weight. Although some fighters get mad at opponents for missing weight, Erosa is not in the same boat.

Tony Ferguson has no plans to retire following his UFC 279 submission loss to Nate Diaz. Ferguson was set to return to welterweight to face Li Jingliang but after Khamzat Chimaev missed weight and the card was re-shuffled, ‘El Cucuy’ wound up headlining the event against Diaz.

Mickey Gall has claimed that he has not been released by the Ultimate Fighting Championship, contrary to recent reports. Mixed martial arts fans were first introduced to Mickey Gall way back in 2016 when he was lined up as the man to welcome CM Punk into the UFC. After submitting the former WWE champion in just over two minutes, Gall went on to defeat Sage Northcutt before a frustrating 3-5 run that ended in a quick TKO loss to Mike Malott back in April.

Sandhagen has not fought since last October when he suffered a decision loss to Petr Yan for the interim bantamweight title. After the loss, he wanted some time off and will now headline UFC Vegas 60 on Saturday against Song Yadong. Although it’s not the fight he expected, Sandhagen believes Yadong is a tough challenge and that is why he’s so excited about the fight.
Marlon Moraes ends retirement, set to sign with PFL

Marlon Moraes will be ending his retirement less than six months after announcing it. In April, Moraes announced he was retiring from MMA following a KO loss to Song Yadong back in March. It was his fourth straight loss and in March, he released a statement through his manager that he would be retiring from MMA.

The Stockton, native, of course, recently fought out his Ultimate Fighting Championship deal at UFC 279 when he submitted Tony Ferguson. The goal for Feldman is to sign Diaz and have him fight Mike Perry.

Louis Cosce will finally be returning to the Octagon. Cosce made his UFC debut at UFC 255 in November of 2020, where he suffered a third-round TKO loss to Sasha Palatnikov. Since then, Cosce finally decided to address a shoulder issue and later got COVID which has kept him out of the Octagon for nearly two years.

The bout will be for the vacant lightweight title that Oliveira famously lost on the scale in May. Despite missing weight, the Brazilian later defeated Justin Gaethje after losing his championship.

The UFC is continuing to trim its roster as two more fighters have been let go including Mickey Gall. On Thursday, the Twitter account UFC Roster Watch which tracks the UFC roster and who has been added and removed revealed Gall and Mason Jones were removed from the roster.

Heading into the fight, Sandhagen is a -215 favorite while the 10th-ranked bantamweight is a +164 underdog on FanDuel. Most of the pros believe this is too much of a step-up for Yadong and expect Sandhagen to get back into the win column in a big way.
