Jacoby entered the fight knowing it would be a tough test and the pressure was on him given the fact he was defending his spot in the rankings. He knew the fight would be tough but he landed a massive shot that dropped Jung and stopped the fight which Jacoby was pleased with.

In the middleweight contest, Strickland was finished in round one. The defeat from the Brazilian ended a stellar six-fight winning streak for the 31-year-old.

Valentina Shevchenko has responded to callouts from Casey O’Neill and Maycee Barber. After Schevchenko edged out a split decision over Taila Santos, both Barber and O’Neill thought the flyweight champ was exposed. O’Neill thought the fight proved Shevchenko is not as dominant as many make her out to be, but the flyweight champ disagrees and doesn’t like the comments from the rising prospects in the division.

The UFC heads back to London, England on Saturday for UFC London. In the main event, Curtis Blaydes takes on Tom Aspinall in a crucial heavyweight fight. It’s the second straight main event for Aspinall who submitted Alexander Volkov in the main event of UFC London in March. Blaydes, meanwhile, knocked out Chris Daukaus back in March after defeating Jairzinho Rozenstruik by decision to return to the win column after suffering a KO loss to Derrick Lewis.

The altercation between Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal in Miami was chaotic enough for an off-duty police officer to request multiple units. It was at UFC 272 on March 5th of this year that the two welterweights collided. Covington (17-3 MMA) defeated Masvidal (35-16 MMA) in a five-round fight that went the distance.

Kyle Nelson knew he had to move up to lightweight after his last fight. Nelson hasn’t fought since September of 2020 when he suffered a KO loss to Billy Quarantillo. The loss dropped him to 1-3 in the UFC and he wasn’t sure if the UFC was going to re-sign him, but even if they didn’t, his next fight was going to be at lightweight.

Former UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping isn’t very interested in Khamzat Chimaev fighting Nate Diaz. The Stockton-native has been very vocal about his want to leave the UFC. Diaz last competed against Leon Edwards at UFC 263 last June. The bout saw him lose via unanimous decision, however, not before nearly finishing his foe in the last round.

Former UFC dual-weight champion Daniel Cormier isn’t a fan of the proposed Frankie Edgar vs. Dominick Cruz fight. ‘The Answer’ has been out of the cage since his knockout loss to Marlon Vera at UFC 268 last November. The defeat was the fourth, in the last five contests for Edgar. Recently, the 40-year-old announced that he would retire later this year.
