On Tuesday, it was revealed by ESPN through Hunter Campbell of the UFC that Chimaev is booked to headline UFC 279 against Diaz. The news came as a surprise as just a week ago Diaz said he hadn’t been offered any fights and just wanted to fight out his contract. Now, he will fight out his deal against Chimaev and the Swede is looking forward to it.

Nate Diaz will be fighting out his UFC contract at UFC 279. According to ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, Diaz will headline UFC 279 on September 10 against Chimaev. The event will take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, and will serve as the final fight of Diaz’s contract.

With only 1 win and no losses in his pro career, his last fight was back in April of 2017 with the UPLH (Ukrainian Professional League of Horting) where he defeated Artem Klochko (2-2 MMA) by TKO.
