The promotion continues to come thick and fast with a parade of high profile fights spread across the pay-per-view calendar in 2022. While we’re confident there will be a lot to look forward to in the autumn and winter months, what can’t be overlooked is the remainder of the summer schedule – which includes UFC 277 in Dallas, Texas.

Rafael dos Anjos will be taking some time to assess things after being knocked out by Rafael Fiziev. In the main event of UFC Vegas 58, dos Anjos and Fiziev mixed it up inside the UFC Apex. This was a pivotal lightweight collision as dos Anjos was the number seven-ranked UFC 155-pounder, while Fiziev held the number 10 spot.

He ruled the roost at welterweight under the UFC banner for so many years and even captured the UFC Middleweight Championship before calling it a career. He is now a UFC Hall of Famer.

Israel Adesanya has roasted Paulo Costa after “Borrachinha” took issue with referee Jason Herzog. Costa believes that Herzog doesn’t treat all fighters equally. He pointed to having had a point taken from him during his Sept. 2020 title fight with Israel Adesanya for an eye poke.

Rafael dos Anjos couldn’t halt the momentum of Rafael Fiziev but he is gracious in defeat. In the main event of UFC Vegas 58, dos Anjos went one-on-one with Fiziev inside the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. Fiziev scored the fifth-round knockout victory seemingly out of nowhere.

The Octagon remained in Nevada for tonight’s UFC Vegas 58 event, an eleven-bout fight card headlined by Rafael Dos Anjos vs. Rafael Fiziev. Tonight’s main event proved to be a coming out party for Rafael Fiziev. The younger of the two Rafael’s was able to dictate and control the contest for the majority of the first three rounds. RDA would mount a bit of a comeback in round four but the proved to be short-lived. Just 18 seconds into the fifth and final round Fiziev lands a heavy punch which sent Dos Anjos to the canvas.

Strickland (25-4 MMA) and Pereira (5-1 MMA) collided in a perennial number one contender bout for the middleweight division last weekend. The bout did not make it out of the first round and it was the American on the receiving end of a brutal knockout loss (see that here).

That setback marked “Gamebred’s” third in a row, as he had previously suffered back-to-back losses to reigning UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman.

UFC strawweight champion Carla Esparza will be in the octagon by the end of the year. ‘Cookie Monster’ faced off against Rose Namajunas at UFC 274 in May. Alexander Volkanovski is set to have surgery after suffering a broken thumb in the trilogy fight with Max Holloway. Volkanovski (25-1 MMA) vs Holloway (23-7 MMA) took place last Saturday, July 2nd at UFC 276. It was to be a victory for ‘The Great’ by unanimous decision. Although Volkanovski retained his featherweight title, he did suffer an injury during the bout.
