Curtis Blaydes is riding high following his UFC Columbus victory and he could be in for a massive fight next. Blaydes shared the Octagon with Chris Daukaus this past Saturday night (March 26). While Blaydes has been racking up wins consistently, some have knocked him for not having enough standout performances. That certainly changed on this night as “Razor” floored Daukaus with a punch and ended the fight with ground-and-pound in the second round.

The highly anticipated heavyweight main event proved to be a short lived affair. To the surprise of many, Curtis Blaydes did not shoot for a single takedown in tonight’s event headliner. Instead, ‘Razor’ decided to showcase his improved striking skills, outpointing Daukaus on the feet in the opening five minutes. Then, at the start of round two, Blaydes landed a huge punch that sent Daukaus crashing down to the canvas. Curtis quickly pounced on his wounded opponent and promptly finished the fight off with ground and pound.

Nate Diaz has made a formal request to Dana White and Hunter Campbell asking to be released by the UFC. Diaz (20-13 MMA) has not competed since UFC 263, where he suffered a unanimous decision loss to Leon Edwards in a welterweight bout. The Stockton native nearly finished the British fighter in round five of that contest, but wound up being handed the loss after being badly outpointed in the first four rounds of the fight.

Henry Cejudo and Conor McGregor have taken to Twitter in a war of words. Could it be that Cejudo is adding himself to the list of fighters that are waiting in line for The Irishman to return to the Octagon. ‘Triple C’ (16-2 MMA) last fought in May of 2020 at UFC 249 defeating Dominick Cruz (24-3 MMA) by second round TKO to defend the bantamweight title. Following that bout, Cejudo announced his retirement from mixed martial arts, but has since indicated his wish to get back in the cage this year.
