Colby Covington tells Kamaru Usman to "show the world some balls" and fight him again
Adam Martin - April 8, 2021
Top contender Colby Covington told his rival, UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman, to “show the world some balls” and fight him again. Covington and Usman met back at UFC 245 in December 2019. In what was Usman’s toughest test to date, Covington took him late into the fifth round in a tooth-and-nail fight. In the last minute of the fight, Usman landed the knockout blow when he broke Covington’s jaw and referee Marc Goddard stopped the fight. Covington to this day swears it was a quick stoppage and badly wants the rematch. However, to this point, Covington hasn’t been able to get a second fight with Usman, who instead chose to rematch Jorge Masvidal.

Adam D Martin - April 8, 2021
UFC superstar Jon Jones seems optimistic that he will get a deal done with UFC president Dana White to fight Francis Ngannou. Jones and the UFC have been involved in very public contract negotiations for a potential heavyweight title fight with the new UFC champion Ngannou. The original plan was for Jones to fight the winner of Ngannou vs. Stipe Miocic 2 at UFC 260, but since that fight happened, White has suggested that Derrick Lewis could be Ngannou’s next opponent. That’s because Jones wants more money than the UFC initially offered. According to “Bones” he balked at the promotion’s initial suggestion of $8 to $10 million dollars.

Adam D Martin - April 7, 2021
Former UFC welterweight Ben Askren says that rival Jorge Masvidal “looks like a dope” for supporting his upcoming boxing opponent Jake Paul. Askren is set to take on Paul in a boxing match on Triller on April 17. As part of his training camp, Paul brought in Masvidal to help train with him for Askren. As well, Masvidal made a guest appearance during the recent Triller press conference when Paul called him up on FaceTime. These two have been going back-and-forth on social media as of late, arguing about the famous flying knee about UFC 239. It’s still one of the most incredible highlight-reel finishes we have ever seen in mixed martial arts. Miranda Maverick reacts after getting booked against Maycee Barber
Adam D Martin - April 7, 2021
UFC women’s flyweight prospect Miranda Maverick reacted after her surprise booking against fellow youngster Maycee Barber for this summer. Late Tuesday night, it was revealed that the UFC plans on having Maverick fight Barber on July 24. The 23-year-old Maverick is the No. 15 ranked fighter in the flyweight division, while the 22-year-old Barber is the No. 14 ranked fighter. Based on the rankings, this fight does make sense. But considering the UFC typically doesn’t like to match up prospect vs. prospect, it was a bit of a surprise to see this fight booked. Remember, Barber is coming off of back-to-back losses to Alexa Grasso and Roxanne Modafferi, so suffering a third straight loss here against Maverick could be detrimental for the future of her UFC career.
