As Jon Jones continues his recent saga with the UFC, Derek Brunson has raised a question regarding his fellow fighters on the come-up. Early Wednesday, Jones took to Twitter to share his feelings about how $10 million to fight new heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou would be “too low.” Thus prompting one of the top middleweight contenders in Brunson to speak up.

Khabib Nurmagomedov has taken a shot at Tony Ferguson. Ever since they were first booked to fight one another, Ferguson has been trash-talking Nurmagomedov. Then, after the lightweight champ retired from the sport in October, “El Cucuy” blasted him for not fighting him and has claimed Nurmagomedov retired 29-1. However, Nurmagomedov doesn’t appear to think that is true as he blasted Ferguson for focusing on him instead of Beneil Dariush.

UFC welterweight superstar Nate Diaz took to social media to take another shot at Conor McGregor and he also took aim at Dustin Poirier. Diaz and Poirier were supposed to meet at UFC 230 in November 2018 but “The Diamond” was forced to pull out with injury. They never ended up meeting, but after Poirier defeated McGregor at UFC 257 in January, Diaz suggested that the fight to make was him against Poirier. However, that fight never happened, either, as McGregor and Poirier will run it back for a third time this summer at UFC 264. Diaz, meanwhile, was recently booked for his comeback fight against Leon Edwards in the co-main event of UFC 262 in May in Houston.

Stephen A. Smith has high praise for Francis Ngannou’s KO win over Stipe Miocic at UFC 260. In the main event of the pay-per-view card last Saturday, Ngannou and Miocic had their highly-anticipated rematch. Early on in the fight, Ngannou landed some heavy shots and showed off his takedown defense, and even reversed the champ in the grappling department. In the second round, Ngannou dropped Miocic with the jab and just seconds later, landed a heavy shot that put him out cold.

UFC heavyweight contender Derrick Lewis reacted to the news that Jon Jones wants $8 to $10 million to fight Francis Ngannou. Jones posted a series of tweets on Wednesday in which he said he told UFC executive Hunter Campbell that $10 million would be “way too low” for a fight against Ngannou, which on paper stands to be one of the biggest blockbuster super fights the promotion could ever put on. Both Jones and Ngannou are in the primes of their MMA careers right now and the fight between two of the promotion’s biggest stars sells itself. And yet, the UFC doesn’t seem willing to yet match Jones’ demands as far as the money goes.

UFC superstar Jon Jones says that he told the UFC $8 to $10 million dollars would be too low for a mega-fight against Francis Ngannou. In a series of tweets posted to his social media on Wednesday, Jones said that he told UFC executive Hunter Campbell that he wants more than $10 million dollars to fight Ngannou. In addition, Jones said that believes he’s been underpaid throughout his entire career and is hoping to finally get paid what he believes is right to take on Ngannou at heavyweight. The UFC rankings have changed following UFC 260, with Francis Ngannou entering the top-five P4P rankings and Tyron Woodley dropping down. Ngannou brutally finished Stipe Miocic in the main event of UFC 260 with punches in the second round to capture the UFC heavyweight title. Following the win, Ngannou jumped eight spots in the promotion’s pound-for-pound rankings. He’s all the way up at No. 5 in the world now after the victory, with Miocic slipping four spots in the rankings down to No. 7 overall. With Miocic moving down, both UFC featherweight champion Alex Volkanovski and UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya moved up one spot each. Despite Jan Blachowicz beating Adesanya at UFC 259, he is ranked four spots lower at No. 8.

UFC superstar Conor McGregor asked the world’s leading promotion to create a new “McGregor Belt” for the Dustin Poirier trilogy at UFC 264. McGregor takes on Poirier at UFC 264 on July 10 as the two rivals meet for a third and likely final time inside the Octagon. The first time these two met was back at UFC 178 in September 2014, with McGregor getting the better of Poirier en route to a first-round knockout win. They met again nearly seven years later at UFC 257 in January 2021, with Poirier returning the favor with a second-round knockout over the Irishman. They will look to end their feud once and for all this summer when they meet in their trilogy matchup.

Former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva shared a cryptic message with his fans following his move from the Octagon to boxing. On Tuesday, it was officially announced that Silva will be taking his talents to the boxing ring to take on Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in June in Mexico. Silva was unceremoniously booted from the UFC last fall following a knockout loss to Uriah Hall. The soon-to-be-46-year-old Brazilian was not performing well in the UFC, and with the promotion in roster-cutting mode, one of the sport’s idols was let go. However, Silva still has the itch to compete and if the UFC doesn’t want him, then he’s happy to head to boxing and take on a new challenge.

Mike Winkeljohn, the striking coach of UFC superstar Jon Jones, believes his pupil will score a late finish if he fights Francis Ngannou. Jones and Ngannou are primed to fight each other if “Bones” can come together financially on a deal with the UFC. If cooler heads can prevail and the UFC and Jones can work together, then this is the fight to make. If the Jones vs. Ngannou fight does happen, then there is no doubt in the mind of Winkeljohn that Jones can finish “The Predator” late.

The news broke overnight that Diaz will be returning to the Octagon in order to face Edwards in what could, essentially, be a No. 1 contender fight. Diaz probably wouldn’t have earned the right to call himself that just based on one win alone, but that’s the nature of his unique position and star power.
