Muhammad suffered a nasty eye poke in the early goings of the second round of his main event fight against Edwards at this past Saturday’s UFC Vegas 21 event. Unfortunately for everyone involved, the eye poke was so severe that the cage-side doctor and referee Herb Dean were forced to wave off the fight and call it a No Contest (accidental eye poke). But despite not actually winning the fight, Edwards has said since the fight ended that he wants to get a UFC welterweight title shot, and Muhammad doesn’t agree with that whatsoever.

However, Anders made the colossal error of hitting a downed opponent with an illegal knee. Luckily for Anders, referee Herb Dean called the fight a No Contest instead of disqualifying him like Petr Yan was at UFC 259.

It was a controversial moment as this marked the first time in UFC history that a fighter has won a belt via DQ. It was even more controversial because there were many fans and even fellow fighters who thought Sterling hammed up the knee to get the win. After taking a step back and fighting the unranked Tucker, it seems likely that Ige will get a top-10 ranked opponent.
