Deiveson Figueiredo reveals his expected fight-day weight at UFC 256

UFC flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo has revealed what weight he expects to step into the Octagon at on Saturday night at UFC 256. Figueiredo is one of the biggest flyweights in the UFC and he has struggled to make the 125lbs mark in the past, most notably missing weight for his first fight against Joseph Benavidez back in February. Figueiredo ended up winning that fight and then took the rematch on Fight Island, this time making weight. He just made weight for his recent title defense against Alex Perez at UFC 255 and he expects to make weight again when he takes on Brandon Moreno at UFC 256 this Saturday night in Las Vegas.

UFC flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo is hoping to defend his title against Henry Cejudo if he’s victorious at UFC 256 this weekend. Figueiredo is slated to defend his title against the streaking Brandon Moreno in the UFC 256 main event. Heading into the fight, the expectation is that the champ will be booked for a fight with former UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt next if he’s successful.

Top-5 UFC lightweight contender Tony Ferguson has issued a response to a recent comment from Dominance MMA CEO Ali Abdelaziz. Earlier this week, Abdelaziz claimed that Ferguson’s management company, Ballangee Group, attempted to poach his client Justin Gaethje earlier this year. Gaethje, of course, derailed Ferguson’s 12-fight unbeaten streak in May.

The full betting odds have been released for the 11 fights scheduled to take place at Saturday’s UFC 256: Figueiredo vs. Moreno event. In the main event, UFC flyweight champion Deivieson Figueiredo makes a quick turnaround when he takes on top contender Brandon Moreno. Both men just fought less than three weeks ago at UFC 255, picking up impressive first-round finishes over Alex Perez and Brandon Royval, respectively. The UFC was able to get both men to quickly turn around and fight each other for flyweight supremacy in the main event of UFC 256.

Fortunately, the UFC matchmakers were able to work quickly and secure a new opponent for Ribas as Rodriguez, the No. 8 ranked fighter in the division. On paper, Rodriguez is a perfect opponent for Ribas, who is ranked just one spot below her at No. 9 in the UFC 115lbs rankings.

UFC president Dana White says that the upcoming roster cuts from the world’s leading MMA promotion have “nothing to do with fighter pay.” Last week, the UFC made the surprising move to release former middleweight title contender Yoel Romero. Although Romero is 43 years old and riding a three-fight losing streak, he was still ranked in the top-five and the move came as a surprise to a lot of people. White told the media that these surprises will keep on coming as the promotion looks to cut up to 60 fighters from its active roster. That has led fans and media to speculate on the UFC’s motivation to cut all of these 60 fighters.

UFC president Dana White has promised the world’s leading MMA promotion will be making 60 cuts to its active fighter roster. The promotion last month released former middleweight champion Anderson Silva, before recently releasing top-five ranked middleweight Yoel Romero in a shocking move. The cuts will continue to keep on coming as the UFC is looking to make room on its roster for Contender Series alum, new fighters from The Ultimate Fighter, and free-agent signings.
