Felder stepped up on five days’ notice to take on dos Anjos in the main event of UFC Vegas 14 on Saturday night. Despite taking the fight on super short notice, Felder put up a heck of a fight, ultimately losing a split decision on the judges’ scorecards. It was an incredible performance by a fighter who wasn’t even expected to compete on the card.

Dos Anjos returned to the UFC lightweight division on Saturday night with a split decision win over Paul Felder in a spectacular fight between two incredible athletes. RDA is now 36 years old but he looked to be in amazing shape moving down to 155lbs for the first time in four years. And he did so clean. 30 fights into his UFC career and RDA has never tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs. He is a former UFC champion and a great ambassador of this sport as one of the cleanest athletes in the game today.

UFC lightweight Yancy Medeiros has a recent run-in with a USADA inspector at his home that ruined his plans of an intimate evening. Medeiros has been a member of the UFC roster since 2013, going 6-7, 1 NC over 14 fights in the promotion with wins over the likes of Alex Oliveira, Erick Silva, and John Makdessi. He hasn’t fought since a decision loss to Lando Vannata at a UFC Fight Night event in February of this year, and overall he has lost three straight fights. Despite the losing skid, he remains on the UFC roster and he continues to be tested by USADA.

The opening betting odds have been released for the upcoming UFC Vegas 16 middleweight main event between Jack Hermansson and Kevin Holland. Hermansson was originally tabbed to fight Darren Till but the fight was scratched after Till got injured. Fortunately, Holland was able to step up and take the fight on short notice. It’s incredibly the fifth fight for Holland since May 2020, when the UFC re-started after a two-month hiatus due to COVID-19. As for Hermansson, he will look to build on a submission win over Kelvin Gastelum in his last outing on Fight Island in July.

UFC lightweight Rafael dos Anjos released a statement following his “roller coaster” split decision win over Paul Felder at UFC Vegas 14. RDA was originally set to fight Islam Makhachev at UFC 254 on Fight Island but he was forced off the card due to COVID-19. The UFC then re-booked the fight for two weeks later at UFC Vegas 14. Unfortunately, the fight fell apart when Makhachev pulled out due to an infection. Fortunately, the UFC called upon Paul Felder to save the day. The No. 7 ranked lightweight/UFC color commentator stepped up to the plate on just five days’ notice, stepping in there with dos Anjos after having had no real training camp for it.

Hansen is one of the top prospects in the women’s strawweight division and McKenna isn’t far behind her, so it’s not a surprise these girls delivered. In an action-packed fight to kick off the main card at UFC Vegas 14, Hansen and McKenna fought valiantly for the full 15 minutes in what was a closely-contested but seemingly clear win for Hansen. Most watching believed that Hansen had done enough to win the fight. The judges disagreed.

UFC superstar Conor McGregor explained why he is looking at 2020 as an opportunistic year despite some frustrating experiences. McGregor said before the year that he wanted to have a full season in 2020. That would begin with a fight against Donald Cerrone at UFC 246 in January — which McGregor won in 40 seconds by TKO — and then move on to a lightweight title bout. A welterweight fight against a star in that division was also mentioned. But due to the COVID-19 pandemic, McGregor fought just once this year despite being healthy himself.

Most felt that he should have won unanimously, but regardless of the scores, a win is a win.

Michael Bisping pegged Georges St-Pierre as the one fight he would “do over,” while also claiming that he would have retired had he won. Bisping and GSP met back at UFC 217 in November 2017. At the time, Bisping was the UFC middleweight champion and was coming off of back-to-back wins over Luke Rockhold and Dan Henderson in title fights. GSP, meanwhile, was coming back after a four-year layoff as he moved up to 185lbs for the first time during his UFC career.

UFC welterweight Belal Muhammad has called for an eight-man UFC lightweight tournament including Rafael dos Anjos vs. Charles Oliveira. The UFC lightweight division is in flux right now with UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov’s status very much in the air. Although “The Eagle” announced his retirement following his submission win over Justin Gaetje at UFC 254, it was later revealed that the promotion will not strip him of his belt. So the division is currently operating with the belief that Nurmagmedov is still the champion — for now.
