UFC women’s bantamweight contender Germaine de Randamie was one of four fighters who picked up $50,000 bonuses following UFC Fight Island 4. The UFC announced the traditional post-fight bonuses following the event. De Randamie, who picked up the first submission win of her MMA career when she tapped out Julianna Pena with a third-round guillotine choke, picked up $50k for her incredible finish. At age 36, de Randamie proved that she is still improving. It’s the second bonus of de Randamie’s UFC career, having previously won a bonus in 2016 for her TKO win over Anna Elmose.

Former UFC champion Cris Cyborg was clearly watching tonight’s UFC Fight Island 4 main event between Holly Holm and Irene Aldana. The UFC’s former women’s bantamweight champion, Holm (13-5 MMA), had entered tonight’s contest looking to build off the momentum from her unanimous decision victory over Raquel Pennington back in January. Prior to defeating ‘Rocky’ in Las Vegas, ‘The Preachers Daughter’ was coming off a knockout loss to reigning women’s champ-champ Amanda Nunes at UFC 239.

Julianna Pena was hoping to solidify herself as a top bantamweight contender by scoring a win over Germaine de Randamie this evening at UFC Fight Island 4. Pena (9-4 MMA) was returning to action for the first time in over a year at tonight’s UFC Fight Island 4 event. In her most recent effort in July of 2019, Pena scored a unanimous decision victory over Nicco Montano.

Chris Weidman took another shot at Israel Adesanya, suggesting the UFC middleweight champion is just another Anderson Silva without the black belt. Weidman, the former UFC middleweight champion, joined the long list of fighters to take a shot at Adesanya in the wake of his stunning TKO win over Paulo Costa at UFC 253. Weidman recently said that he believes he would “ragdoll” Adesanya with his wrestling if they fight and he also said he believes Adesanya is a “tailor-made matchup” for him.

Veteran MMA welterweight Paul Daley is set to announce his retirement from mixed martial arts after one final fight in Bellator. Daley was set to take on Derek Anderson in the main event of this week’s Bellator 247 event. However, the fight was called off by the doctors after Daley missed weight and started having health issues afterward. Daley later explained what happened and why he missed weight, but he was criticized by the athletic commissioner for his failed weight cut.

Holly Holm hopes to retire with the UFC women’s bantamweight championship once again wrapped around her waist. Holm captured the UFC bantamweight title in 2015 by knocking out the formerly unbeaten Ronda Rousey in one of the biggest upsets in MMA history. She then surrendered the title in her first defense, succumbing to a fifth-round rear-naked choke courtesy of Miesha Tate.

Former UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt has issued a statement on his exit from a planned title fight with UFC flyweight champ Deiveson Figueiredo. Garbrandt was expected to challenge Figueiredo for the flyweight title at UFC 255 this November. Unfortunately, news surfaced on Friday that he has been forced out of this contest, and replaced by Alex Perez, who was originally scheduled to fight Brandon Moreno on the same card.

Originally, Moreno was supposed to fight Alex Perez while Deiveson Figueiredo was going to defend his belt against Cody Garbrandt. Yet, on Friday it was revealed Garbrandt is out of the fight and Perez will now be fighting for the belt.
